[Status: Backburner ⏳] Custom Fields | Hide or Show on Project Level
I would really appreciate the ability to show/hide custom fields on the PROJECT level as is available on the TASK level. Seems like it's possible. My custom fields take up valuable real estate on the Project panel and don't have value to all of my team members. We use a lot of custom fields to pull specific reports.
Hi Patricia, thanks for taking the time to share this! I can definitely understand how that would be useful when there are multiple rows of Custom Fields on the Project level. I'll make sure to direct other users to this post so they could add their votes too! Something I wanted to suggest, in case it helps, is sharing Custom Fields only with those users or groups who will find the information in them relevant. That way, the amount of Custom Fields can be reduced and limited only to those which contain valuable info for different teams and users. Happy to answer any questions about this!
Greetings Anastasia: Do you know if there will be any movement on this requested feature. It was a big deal when I was at F5. I suspect they may not be as vocal and on a regular basis as I am. Because we do a lot of reporting, we have a lot of custom fields and on the project panel/page they take up a lot of valuable real estate. The tasks custom fields can be expanded and collapsed. We would like to see the same experience on the project page.
Hello, Patricia! I don't have any news about this functionality just yet, but I'm going to check in with our Product Managers about it once more right now. I'll post an update here as I have some info to share. Thanks for keeping this topic active! :)
Hello Patricia, hope you don’t mind if I step in for Anastasia here. I’ve discussed this functionality with our Product Team and wanted to let you know that while it’s not on our short-term roadmap, it’s definitely something that we will consider. Custom Fields feature was developed a long time ago, and our engineers need to completely rebuild it in order to add something new or change the way it works (and it takes a lot of time). At the moment, I can’t share any plans or estimates about when it’s going to be released, but I can assure you that your comments and requests help our Product Team understand what features and improvements are important for our customers. I will make sure to update this thread as soon as the team starts working on updating Custom Fields.

It's super frustrating that you can hide a Custom Field in Table View but it doesn't hide that field on the Project Info View. It clutters up the Project Info heavily making it confusing and hard to use.
Agreed. As a group that does a lot of reporting up and down (government!) we will heavily use custom fields to track and report with. Having flexibility as the administer to lay these out would be preferred, but lacking that, at least an option to show/hide them would be appreciated.
Would add a vote for this request
Having more flexibility with custom fields would be extremely beneficial!
I have found at least 3 other similar requests for this that I'm afraid aren't being directed to this topic.
I'll try to round them all up to provide feedback here, but while this sounds like a minor inconvenience this is the difference between my team collecting better stats for our projects versus being able to READ what the project is. As a result, we are not collecting important stats on our projects.
This is one of my wishlist items. Wrike can hide/show in tasks, but not on the main project?

"Custom Fields feature was developed a long time ago, and our engineers need to completely rebuild it in order to add something new or change the way it works (and it takes a lot of time)"
Everything you do in the short term should be done in parallel with a new data model that supports this, and work on this new model should be ongoing, in my opinion. This is a pretty big deal IMHO.
Risk:
A year and a half is a long time to wait.
Is there a way to link like requests together? There are several feedback chains out there regarding this topic. Many of them are at a higher level and encompass this with custom field level management overall. We should have the ability to manage many aspects of custom fields.
Adding my two cents in...
There are task fields that appear on the project front page that take up real estate and fields that are needed at a project level and not a task level that confuses users. Having the ability to specify and/or/all for custom fields on folders/projects/tasks is a need.
It is still on my wishlist to be able to show/hide custom fields on the main page much as you can do on the TASKS level. Please make this happen.
Wondering if there is any update to this ? We want to hide the custom fields at the subproject while keeping the top level project fields custom fields..
The Wrike custom field management allows Projects, Folder or Tasks level but it doesnt do this at the second layer type for the subproject.
If there are layers allowed - project within a project or folder within folder (or vice versa) - there should be ways to hide/show the same level across just like it does across in the table view but currently it does work the same in the list view.
Hi Manisha Saini! I don't have an update from the team currently, which means this is not on their short-term roadmap still. Could you please let me know if roll-up helps you in this case?

Hi Lisa
Thanks for following up. I put in a request for updating this through the company I am working for. The main issue is that even if it rolled up - when the team has access to those fields they end up updating them.
We want to be able to completely remove/hide the sub project custom fields. We only want to show this at the top project level for reporting. Or it would be inconsistent and confusing for the report.
Manisha
Thank you for getting back to me, @Manisha Saini! One thing that could help you with other team members editing the fields can be Access Roles. For example, users with the Limited role can't edit folder and project Custom fields. It's also possible to customize and create new roles on Enterprise accounts.

I just want to be able to show/hide individual custom fields on the Project Info Panel. I've applied some Custom Fields at the Space level, which contains hundreds of folders, but I have one particular folder that doesn't need certain ones. I can't remove them from the one folder because they're on the Space level. It's just un-needed clutter on that folder.
Thank you for adding your support for hiding custom fields, Meredith Selden! 🤗

I'm adding my support here as well.
My work around has been to limit the amount of fields shared with other team members, but when it comes to reporting or building dashboards it becomes a problem because they don't have access to the fields. Would be nice to show/hide AND also arrange them consistently. Right now they show up all over the place depending on what folder they are in.
This feature is still on my list. The custom fields take a lot screen real estate. Still not understanding why they can be hidden at the task level, but not at the project parent level(?)
Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that I'm checking with the Product team now, and if there's an update for this suggestion, I'll make sure to let you know 👍

Any update on this? It seems shortsighted that we don't have more control over the visibility of custom fields on folders/projects/tasks. There are a number of fields I've added simply for reporting purposes that users need access to, but don't need to appear on tasks/projects/folders. It's not a great user experience. Not to mention there's not a task only or folder only option, so now I have fields displaying that don't apply. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

Wrike team, any update on this?
Hi Regina Ball, thank you for posting! I'm checking with the team at the moment and will let you here know if we have any updates 👍🏼
I keep getting directed to this task but from reading the thread it does not seem to specifically mention what is mentioned in the other articles that direct to this one so wanted to add it: the request is being able to apply custom fields to ONLY tasks or ONLY projects instead of having to do tasks, folders, and projects. We desperately need this as it causes a lot of confusion when people see task specific custom fields on their folders and projects as well.
Hi Charlotte Fawcett, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your clarification. The team is aware of this request to apply custom fields to only tasks or only projects/folders. I'll be sure to let you know if there are any updates in relation to this suggestion. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else 🙋🏻♀️
