To Do Today/Tomorrow- NOT showing subtasks due today

Turns out when you use the 'To Do Today/Tomorrow' board in your dashboard, if you have a subtask due on a date, IT WON'T SHOW ON THAT DATE if the main task date is a different day. The subtask shows when the main task is DUE.
Who thought that this was a good idea?! I almost messed up such a big project deadline because of the subtask NOT showing on the date it was due but I luckily remembered and figured this out.

I discovered that if you create your own CUSTOM board, call it whatever, and choose 'Show subtasks' and choose to show only yourself, with due today, THEN it will show you your subtasks. Beyond angry with Wrike and this issue. As an example, I did this today and went from having 3 things due, to 9! I am blown away that this is actually how that board was designed. Please fix this.

Was this ever updated by wrike?

I don't know. I just have my team make a custom board still so I'm not sure if it was ever resolved.

So far, there is no new update for this suggestion. One workaround I can suggest at the moment is creating a custom widget that will display subtasks separately from their parent tasks. I understand that this might not be a perfect solution. I will ensure to pass your comments to the responsible team. In case of any updates, I'll post them here.

Hi Rohan, thanks for suggestion! How do you create a custom widget in My To Do?

We just had the same problem, and realised the issue was the Task List Display (found by clicking the three-dot menu on My to-do) being set to "Hierarchical" instead of "Plain". Here is a screenshot of the Wrike guidance, found here. Subtasks are hidden under parent tasks when the task list display is set to Hierarchical. Hope that helps!

Hi Jaclyn Griffin 👋

Currently, you can create custom widgets in the dashboards and not in the “My To-do” section. Here’s a detailed article highlighting the process to create a custom widget in the dashboards. Let me know if this helps with your use case.

Hi Gary Fallon, thanks for taking the time to share this!

Hello - I am having this same issue and don't have the ability to select between "plain" and "hierarchial" on my to do list. I can't see subtasks on my to do list anymore and I'm going crazy. I'm trying to create a custom dashboard widget but can't figure out how to get subtasks to show that are overdue now. Can you share how to create that widget? I need to see all my tasks and subtasks in due date order, even if the subtask only has a due date and the main task doesn't have a due date.

Thanks,

Gina

Forcing the table view on our to-do element w/o the option to select between "plain" and "hierarchical" was poorly thought through — being obligated to create a custom "to-do" widget to replace the built in one is case in point.

Hi Gina Smerecki 🙋‍♂️

I’m sorry to hear that you are facing this issue. Please feel free to get in touch with our Support Team, as they can assist you further. Let me know if you’d like me to raise a support ticket on your behalf.

Here’s how you can create a custom widget to display overdue tasks and subtasks:
  1. Go to your Dashboard.
  2. Click Add widget and choose Custom Widget.
  3. Name your widget (e.g., "All Overdue Tasks & Subtasks").
  4. For Location, choose the folder or project where your tasks and subtasks are located.
  5. In the "Reporting on" section, select Task as the option.
  6. se the filter Due Date → Overdue and create the widget.

Just a note, we have launched New Filters for Dashboard as part of our Wrike Labs release, with a new intuitive UI, making it simpler and easier to use the right filters. You can check this post for more information.

To display all tasks and subtasks by Due Date (in ascending or descending order):
  1. Follow the steps above up to Step 5.
  2. In your widget, click on the three dots (...) next to the “Due Date” column header.
  3. Select “Sort ascending” or “Sort descending” to arrange tasks and subtasks by due date in your preferred order.

If you’re using the new filters (Wrike Labs Release), you can use the “Due date” filter and select the “is not empty” option to display only tasks and subtasks that have due dates.

I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
