Dashboard level filtering in a drop down

I'd like to have the ability to create a dashboard which has drop down filters on it. When I select an item from the drop down, every widget on the dashboard would filter accordingly.

For example, I might have an "Assigned to:"  drop down which allows me to select users, and on selecting users every widget would filter to show tasks from those users.

I can see an immediate use on my team for this based on task assignee, task status, and project. This would also be very useful for me from a supervisory perspective.
