[Status: Not planned] Including comments in Reports
I would love to see comments included in reports, especially if the comments can be limited to a date range.
Every week I have a list of issues we track down and need people to report back their status to management. We've been doing this through email and documenting it in Excel which no fun at all. We can do all the tracking in Wrike but we can't report on it to share with a larger group easily.
If you can categorize the issues you could probably fill in custom made fields and report on the fields. We use this feature for reporting our software problems/requirement. Maybe this could help you 🙃
I have a task called Project RAID Log with it's own Workflow. I have a report that is setup to only look for those workflow items. (RAID = Risk, Assumption, Issue, Dependency). This task is in every template and defaults No Know Risks. When a RAID is identified that status changes to Active RAID, which will now show on my report. I use the report to reach out to those that have Active RAID logs to see in help is needed.
Thank you for sharing your tip Joelene! I have used many other PM solutions, but newer to Wrike. When you create the RAID Log task, do you have resources on project update this or do you? RAID is important for my projects, for my team of Consultants.
Appreciate whatever insight you can offer, thank you,
-Andrea
As the PM I own all the risk so the main task is mine. As RAID is identified I will add subtasks to the log and assign them to others on the project with me or to myself if I am tracking it down. I typically assign the task out a week at a time as risk should be managed and updated on frequently until it is mitigated. We view our work a little different in that the tasks on the left side are our Milestones and the tasks listed under the Milestone are what is takes to complete it. The image is our new project template. The PM would own the Milestone of Project RAID Log and the task within would be assigned out when they become known. I hope that helps.
Hi, for me the lack of capacity to add a commentary is a HUGE blocker in me sharing report outputs with our Exec team. They are used to this functionality - most of their reports are in excel and so they are used to having a commentary box on the updates they see.
Is there a workaround for this outside the category allocation as above?
Being able to see the latest comment made or comments made based on a time frame would be great benefit for us. The need for latest date modified would also be needed to see when the comment was made if only searching for latest comment.
It would allow our users to create a report and see the last comment and the date it was last modified/commented on. This would then allow our users to focus on older tasks and follow up as needed. By having this, it would save the users time by not having to click into each task to see when the last comment was made or what it was.
I agree with many comments here. This function would save the teams hours spent each week on collecting, consolidating and formatting reports for others to digest.
I am not finding any further updates on the above discussion about having "comments" in the report. Not sure if there is any movement on that. But it is very important to have a report that allows us to generate summary of tickets "in progress", "Waiting" "Hold" etc. with the field that tells us who is the last person commented on it and when. This is very important input for us to follow up and track the timely responses. Hope my requirement is clear. Any existing features of Wrike that suffice my need or it needs the work from scratch?? quick update on this would be helpful.
Agree with Raghavan. Currently our project team will copy what is in the "comments" section into a custom field that we call "summary" which we add into our reports but this is an EXTRA step. It would be great if there was a way that we can get the comments into the report and be able to filter it by person/date. This would save us time and additional steps in the process to customize our reports.
Hey guys, thank you for your continued input here. For now, I don't have an update to share with you, but I'll come back here if I have news.

there is no effective mean to follow up on comments, through reports or any other method, unless comment tab is reviewed. works for simple projects but it becomes blocker with complicated projects
add my vote,
Please add my vote. For making reports, it's important to know the commentary behind a red/yellow/green status.

The lack of comments on reports is a huge barrier to the rest of the organization using Wrike. Is there any way to expedite this request? Would Professional Services build it for us as a custom?
Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback and votes here!
For now, the status of this suggestion is "Not planned" due to the fact that comments can be pretty long and the formatting is complex, and adding them to reports requires significant UX redesign.
Current workaround a text custom field that contains the comment, as was mentioned above.
I'll get back to you here when there's any update 🙌

Hi everyone, a quick update - this is still not planned at the moment. I'll keep you posted when I have an update.
I would like to see all the most recent comments within certain folders, so I can monitor the progress of these projects.
Having this ability within a widget/dashboard would be awesome. Please investigate this update!
Thanks Chris Hughes! Will be checking with the team again in a couple of months and we'll definitely let you know here once we have an update!

We currently use the tasks' comments section to document the progress of the task (ongoing actions, next steps, obstacles, etc.). Most of this updating is being done during meetings. It would be hugely practical if these notes could then be compiled into a report and used as a meeting report. Currently we are forced document the meeting twice with, once in a meeting report, once in our individual tasks.
Hope this can be accommodated, it would save a lot of time!
A suggestion is to include a report with the LAST COMMENT only, history can be kept using the system, but if we can have a report showing the last comment, that will help creating reports to share with the Team and Upper Management.
Thank you for supporting this idea Jose Luis Olvera Herrera and welcome to the Community 👋
The suggestion remains not planned for now, but we continue to pass on your feedback and the vote count here.

I support the comments previously posted in this thread regarding the need for including comments in reports. If the report could simply search for a specific text character to recognize the need for inclusion in a report field it would be helpful. For example, in our organization, task/project owners create a weekly status update in the comments. They begin this type of comment with "WEEKLY UPDATE - " . If a report could simply grab that comment's text and include it in a report, the needs of most who have posted here would be satisfied. This is very import with respect to Wrike's stated goal of increasing productivity by raising efficiency. Please work on incorporation.
Hi Rick Quave, welcome to the Community, and thank you for adding your support here. I'm passing on your suggestions and use case to our team👍🏼
Ditto to all the above. Comments it reports would really make it easy to sell Wrike to those skeptical about the product. When I have to pull up the system, even after sending around a report, I get distracted by questions on the functionality of the system rather than the topic we are speaking on. (And FYI I love Wrike!)
I would also like the ability to share a url to the individual report so that I can include in an email or meeting notice.

110th upvote by me today. When can we get this feature?
