Problems with Wrike document editor

For the most part we seamlessly use the editor, but one member of my team is having some issues.

After clicking the pencil icon, the word document will open, however an error message also appears and says that the document couldn’t be opened. After completing edits, saving and closing, the edits often don’t track in Wrike and the document doesn’t save back to Wrike . The work around has been to download out of Wrike, edit and re-upload, which doesn’t allow for easy versioning.

Any tips?

Hi both, I've raised tickets with Support.

For now, can you try reinstalling the app:

Uninstall your Wrike Document Editor from within Programs.
Then delete the Folder data Folder usually found here:
C:/Users/User/AppData/Local/WrikeDocumentEditor

Once deleted, please try installing the Document Editor once more from within Apps & Integrations.

Thank you🙂

A feature idea for Wrike Document Editor: Once Wrike believes the new version has been uploaded to Wrike, move the local version to the Recycle Bin so that users have the option to delete at our own discretion. It will save all the teeth gnashing when the new draft does not upload correctly.

Thanks for suggesting this James Maguire! I just think that it could be difficult to find as there might be many items in the bin already. Don't you think so?

I am having the same issue with all users. They open the document with the pencil to edit, the document opens, but there is an error (event though the document opens) stating that the document couldn’t be opened. This is Wrike error. The document does open, but it doesn't get saved back to Wrike. I see others with the same problem. What was the solution.

After I edit a file using wrike document editor, it doesn't automatically save it to wrike folder. A window pops up to ask me where would I want to save it. How can I make it automatically save it to the wrike folder? This used to work in my old laptop and home pc but I'm having this issue in my new laptop.

in the previous a document in (in Excel format), I could “edit” the forms that were submitted for my approval. To do that, I just clicked the “edit” button on the approval screen, it would open the form in Excel, I’d do my edits and save the file, then the file would automatically uploaded to Wrike to replace the original version.

As I do the same with this new form (in pdf format), it opens it on Acrobat reader, I do my edits and as I click “save”, it asks me where to save it -rather doing it by itself and updating the form in Wrike. is there a way to fix this?
