Wrike Automation - Date Conditions
Hi there!
I've been working with one of my teams to try and identify ways to automate actions and responses from request form submissions. We would like a clearer path to setting up more specific date-logic on conditions for automation.
Under the date logic for Automation Conditions, the only currently available options are:
- Custom Time Frame (Choose a specific range of dates) - not applicable to our form
- Today
- This Week
- This Month
- Yesterday
- Last Week
- Last Month
- 7 days ahead
- 30 days ahead
For example:
Requests matching item type: WEB REQUEST are always generated from a request form. Among other questions on the form, ones that track to custom fields include 'Requested Due Date' and 'Priority.'
Requested Due Date maps to both the system 'Due Date' field and to a custom field, 'Requested Due Date.'
Priority maps to a custom field named 'Priority,' with selection options of CRITICAL , NORMAL, and DELAYED. Our team has standard SLAs for each selected priority, but we still occasionally receive requests with priority selections that do not match the communicated SLAs.
We would like to automate responses and also update the 'Priority' custom field to match the selected Due Date. If we try to set up one of those required automations, we run into an issue with date logic for condition parameters for date fields:
Example Automation:
PURPOSE: Does the requested due date match the defined NORMAL priority SLAr?
CONDITIONS:
- New Item Created in Web Production Requests Folder - generated by request form
- Priority field says 'NORMAL'
- Due date is not within 2 business days of current date = Automation date logic does not allow for this specificity or the negative condition
- Requested Due Date still within 30 days of current date
EFFECTS:
- @mention Approvers + Requester to indicate that request arrived outside NORMAL SLA, and that it will be updated to DELAYED.
- Indicate to Approvers that the request will still need to be approved and assigned manually.
- Change PRIORITY field entry to DELAYED
We'd appreciate your feedback to determine if there is another way to set this up. Otherwise, we would request that the automation team look into ways to build these date conditions into automations as a possibility. It would significantly reduce the administrative and communication workload on our teams.
Thank you!
This is an interesting use case. I'm not aware of how you could do this natively although I'm sure you could with the API.
Michael Kreisbuch, unfortunately with standard Automations you cannot filter for logical dates like major or minor or similar.
You can do it by using Wrike Integrate or other external tool like Zapier or Make.com.
But I like your request and I give you my upvote
Hi Michael Kreisbuch, thanks for posting such a detailed suggestion! And thank you, Tiffany and Pietro Poli, for adding your thoughts as well. I have forwarded this post and comments to the responsible team to look into 👍
