Calculating project duration for blueprints

In evidenza

In my role, I maintain a resource document where I manually calculate project durations from blueprints. This helps our team plan ahead based on standard timelines. Unfortunately, the straightforward “due date” minus “start date” calculation doesn’t account for non-working days. It’s been a manual process, and now I’m seeking smarter solutions—especially with blueprint edits in the mix.

Because we have the request forms populate the "start date" and "due date," we don't have this pre-populated at the blueprint level to provide this information. We do this for flexibility. Sometimes we compress task durations to meet requested deadlines; other times, we adjust the project finish line to align with tasks or enable dates.

So, any tips? What works for you? 🌟
