Effort Calculations Incorrect

Hello,

I posted in how to previously asking for insight into effort tracking practices, but the more I've investigated different options I've discovered that the calculations just aren't adding up in custom dashboards or the chart view for projects and folders.

As suggested by another user, I have transitioned to using projects vs folders for our sprint cycles and am using the table view to help alleviate the burden of manual calculation. However, as the dashboards and chart views are features of Wrike, they should also be working properly so I am hoping to get to the bottom of why these numbers aren't adding up.

In the test sprint I've been troubleshooting with, I have populated 356 hours worth of task effort. In my custom dashboard, I have a widget tracking task effort broken down by status with no filter which reports a total of 38 hours for the project. In the project chart view, I have a data set for task:effort; breakdown by status and that also reports 38 hours.

Would anyone be able to provide insight as to whether this is a bug or user error? Thank you in advance for any support!

Hi Valdimir,

Thank you for the reply and ticket creation. I had used both features in the past without issue, so I feel mostly confident in my settings. I'll provide my basic set up information, but please don't hesitate to reach out if additional information or more specifics are needed. Please note the steps and outcomes outlined below are consistent across projects and folders.

Dashboard -

These are some screenshots from a previous closed out sprint. The effort tracking set up is in the first screenshot - no filters are set here as I like a breakdown of how much effort is accounted for in each status. The second is the first 10 of 40 tasks to show there's more than what's calculated and the third is the total calculated by the dashboard.

Chart View:

For the chart view, after opening the chart view, I create a tab for "Task" > "Task Effort" and in this view I break by status. In another I've broken by completed date and then by status, but the general calculation is the same. There are no additional filters selected.

Crysta, our support will contact you to collect the details and pass them on to the engineering team. Sorry but having screenshots is not enough for troubleshooting
