Prioritizaton of automation

Right now I have a space with 2 pieces of automation and I need one to be an "always" and one to be dependent on the other. My example - I have 1 automation to say if any child task fails the parent task is moved to fail. Then I have another automation that says if any child task gets moved to "active" change the parent to active. So child task 1 fails - parent task is moved to fail. Child task 2 is changed to active - parent task gets changed from Fail to Active. But I need Fail to be the priority - if ANY child task fails the parent task fails.  I can do a work around for priority and make the automation more complex but being able to number the automation in terms of priority would be AWESOME.
