Recurrent Tasks vs. Recurrent Reminder

Hello,

I know this is a topic for years for long term users but I'm still looking for a solution.

Here's the challenge:

A typical recurrent task from wrike appears in your folder/project as often as you make him recurrent. i.e. 12 times if it's a weekly task for the next 3 month.

So you have 12 tasks in your list, which is not really giving you a clear picture.

If we don't want  to spoil our task list, we can do it manually by scheduling the task for this weekly review and then reschedule it on that day for the next week... but that's not really smart in terms of planning.

So I'm missing the possibility to schedule one dedicated task with the same options as the now "recurrent settings".

In that way, I have a reminder for this particular task on that day on my daily mail, in my task list for that day and don't have an endless stream of tasks.

As I said, this is an old topic... but I really wonder why there is no smart solution...

Just as an update.... this large list of recurring task is also spamming my "new my work" incoming section... it's really a pain in the neck...

Another reason why "my work" is not usable and why you MUST change this behaviour for recurring tasks.

This discussion is ongoing for month and I appreciate the nice comments from the active wrike team members here, but I would like to see a solution instead of "+1" and "will inform the product team".

Any surprise for us user at Eastern?

What else can we do to move this topic to a solution?

Hi Jörn, nice to talk to you again :) I understand why recurring tasks aren't working for you, specifically as they apply to My Work. We'd definitely love to be able to resolve and implement all ideas, but unfortunately aren't able to do that. We have an internal workflow in place for passing feedback from the community directly to Product Managers so that they can be aware of the most popular topics and know what you're interested in. While we can't guarantee that they'll work on something, the +1s and comment do help us engage the PMs in conversations.

So even though we can't do anything to guarantee this will be worked on right now, the next steps really are just keeping the conversation going here so that we can keep the conversation going with Product Mangers.

Please +1 for me. We are only a few months in on on boarding Wrike and our Social Media team will be one of the last we roll out to. THey were using Asana so converting to Wrike was a bit of a trick.

+1 for me too. This is a major deal-breaker for me and why I turned away from Wrike. The inability to create recurrent tasks without having to "duplicate" them all the time is a major obstacle.

+1 for me. I get the idea of creating a monthly task template or duplicating your folder or project but you do need to revise the due dates if your monthly tasks are not dependent (which they are not likely to be...we are talking about monthly tasks not a monthly project), we have so many monthly tasks that revising the dates each month is very cumbersome...this is actually one of two items that is going to drive my decision between becoming a wrike or asana user...

Hi everyone, thanks for the +1s here.

@Meaghan, in terms of duplicated Projects, you're right, the tasks would need to be linked by dependencies in order to be able to reschedule them then you duplicate the Folder/Project. I know you're on your trial period, let me know if there's anything you would like to talk through.

I agree - the way Wrike handles recurring tasks pollutes all the task views. This needs to be addressed ASAP, as it requires our team to manage recurring tasks in a separate platform.

Hi everyone, thank you once more for keeping the conversation going here. I wanted to post a note here to share the status of this request - I specifically brought up the most recent comments and conversations here with our Product Team last week, and we're actively discussing it now. I don't have an update or result to share just yet, but we will definitely post an update here soon about how these discussions are going. Thank you everyone for keeping this topic active and contributing your ideas!

Hello :) One more user that would love a cleaner rescheduled task UI.
Trying not to be only a "problem pointer" here are suggestions:
The recurrent task that are active now are great for tasks that have a finishing date and you can see them inserted on the project plan in the "big picture".
When you want a recurrent task that is more os a remainder of a "infinite recurrent to do" it would be amazing if it only appeared once and then when it was marked as done, a new one appeared with the next date. Than way you would never have a flood of recurrent tasks clogging the task viewer. There are some task management apps that use this last model and it works really well.
So maybe you could had one more option to the recurrent screen were you selected "x number of times" or "until x date" the option to select endless and that type of task appears only once with changing date when is checked as done.
Hope I was clear in my english and was helpful :)

Thank You for your amazing product :)

Hi - I'm new to Wrike and love what I've used thus far.  I was surprised and a little disappointed when I began to setup a recurring weekly task that I want on my list.  My issue is with the limitations on the number of recurrences or the time frame limitation.  I was happy to find this thread and see that I'm not the only one.  My reason to post is to just add to the number of your customers interested in expanding this feature.  Thanks much and keep up the great work.
