Wrike profile calendar integration

It would be great to be able to integrate Outlook with the calendar in our Wrike profile so that vacations don't have to be entered twice. This would also assure that the vacation postings are in sync. The ultimate option would be that we could invite the Wrike profile calendar from an Outlook invite.

Hi Meshelle, welcome to the forums and thanks for the suggestion! Would the other way around also work for you? In that case, you would update vacation postings in Wrike and push data to Outlook.

Hi Stephanie, Yes, that would be wonderful.  Could you show me how to do that?

Hi Meshelle, I apologize I should have been more clear - I wanted to know if, hypothetically, it would work for you to push data from Wrike to Outlook. It's a question our Product team would probably ask, so I just wanted to get your input and thoughts. Have you seen the iCal feature though? You can export tasks from Wrike Folders/Projects to Outlook using iCalendar feeds. It would be a workaround, but if you created vacation days as tasks, you would be able to import them to the calendar in Outlook.

Unfortunately, the workaround just adds another step.  One would still have to update the profile calendar + create vacation day tasks + push to Outlook.  It doesn't seem efficient.

It would be super if you could "invite" Wrike to the Outlook appointment.  SharePoint and Outlook works this way and syncs automatically.  Hopefully the Product Team can come up with something.  They are a smart bunch!

Thanks for your help.

In addition to this it would be great to be able to import a calendar to a Group for dates that apply to all such as Holidays, Training, etc.

In addition, when we have staff meetings or off-sights we can't block this time out from scheduling for a group or members.  Integration with with Outlook would allow this to happen automatically making them unavailable for task scheduling.

Hi Lisa,

This feature was very useful for us, since everything in our worklife does NOT happen in Wrike...
I don't understand your answer, do you mean you can raise a support ticket to make this feature available again ?

Thanks

After a few years of adopting wrike, we have come to the conclusion that the calendar in wrike - and all it's functionality - is utterly useless.  Because companies do their actual WORK using outlook.  That is where meetings are scheduled, vacations are planned, etc.  Since wrike acknowledges this with an integration into email... why on Earth ignore the other core component of CALENDARS?????

Nobody wants to have to use 2 separate calendars to track things.  Nobody.  An integration into outlook CALENDAR is just as vital to Wrike's continued existence as the integration with email.  Think about that.

Your product is awesome, but this lack of core functionality will mean Wrike will not grow and be adopted as it should or could... and will eventually be replaced by another product that does everything you do, the way you do it, but also integrates with the main business calendar :(

Im confused. I found this blog post about integrating with Outlook written in 2021: https://www.wrike.com/blog/view-your-active-tasks-in-your-favorite-calendar-software/ yet the above post said this functionality was removed in 2019.

Is there a way to have wrike tasks integrated with an Outlook calendar?

Jessica Baumberger  I'm not sure what that iCalendar post is about.  I don't see the folders view anywhere - and that makes sense because Lightspeed is a total disaster and nothing is easy to find anymore.  But... I did find this https://unito.io/integrations/microsoft-outlook-wrike/  and it looks promising :)

Hi Jessica Baumberger, thank you for bringing this to us. I've shared your comments with our dedicated team so that they can amend the article. To reply to your question, we have currently two ways to integrate Wrike to Outlook calendar:

  1. Via Wrike Sync, which allows you to configure what events to create in Outlook calendar based on Wrike items.
  2. Via Wrike Integrate, which allows you to create low code transformations to achieve this automation.

John Rakoczy, thank you for chiming in. May I please ask you to elaborate on the issue you have encountered? Our Product Team is especially interested in feedback about Wrike Lightspeed and we'd like to hear your case and assist you with this. Thank you!

Hi @..., I posted a long thread about Lightspeed https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/16283247532055-Lightspeed-and-new-interfaces-in-general?page=1#community_comment_18526505147287 and the issues are "global" - meaning the entire re-design of Lightspeed is an epic failure to me.

From some Wrike responses in the thread, it appears that a tiny fraction of Wrike users actually used the homepage (which is strange because that's where you went when you opened the app) and was the reason they used to justify destroying it completely, only to replace it with... another "home page"...

Basically after much thought, it appears that Wrike is now designed for the individual user to manage their work, NOT for managers and Analysts and those who organize work for entire departments and companies.

What Wrike MUST do is create the option for users to SPECIFY what kind of role they have - Manager vs Worker - and those who organize at the enterprise-level can get the OLD interface which is perfectly suited for that level of planning and organization.  Workers can then choose "lightspeed" where they can jump right in to the details of the work that's been assigned to them.

I know I'm 100% right about Lightspeed being a failure.  Wrike has already back-stepped and added the folders underneath the task title... that is just one change back to the old way of presenting information out of long list of un-do's that need to be done.  Many of the old ways to present information need to come back.  Lightspeed is useless to organizing and viewing work for anyone working at a high level.

I would add that our success manager has been trying to help us with integrating with Outlook for a long time.  I know Wrike will work with Outlook if you pay for the ability to do so (via Integrate?) but we want something that works out-of-the-box, where the pricing includes that function and we don't have to mess with "add on" subscriptions and complicate the billing and payment model.  It's frankly easier to look at a 3rd party app then, which can be allocated or de-allocated in the budget, instead of worrying about changing what is allocated for Wrike in the budget because that value changes based upon what integration we may need.  If we must constantly ask for approval to change a budget line-item, then we get asked to consider other alternatives... to upper management it just looks like your software is raising prices and getting too expensive lol.

The important thing is auto-syncing (two-way syncing) between the platforms so we can actually start using dates in Wrike.  Because Outlook is the “real” calendar that matters to anyone, any other calendar (i.e. the Wrike calendar) is truly superfluous and unimportant – dates on it are largely ignored because who has time to maintain 2+ separate calendars for work?  This cripples key functionality for the product in my opinion.  Any changes made to a task’s date in Wrike (which may also cascade changes to linked tasks) need to also update their information in Outlook (and any of those predecessor/successor tasks that also changed… need to be updated in Outlook).

A perfect example of multiple/distinct calendars presenting information in one place is your cell phone.  I have one calendar on my iPhone, yet it is able to sync my gmail, yahoo, iCloud, Hotmail, and work calendar and display everything in one place.  If my phone can do it… it can’t be that difficult lol.

If this new feature is not an automatic 2-way true sync, it will likely not work as we need and I’ll suggest (again) that Wrike make it a vital priority to sync with Outlook seamlessly if they wish to grow their sales and overtake competition.

Did anything come of this?? Our company is looking to push this out moving forward. I think Wrike has opportunity but we already pay to use Wrike and it would cost an additional $50,000/yr. just to have outlook integration??? No one is paying this for a calendar? Please Help???
