[Status: Launched ๐] Request forms - Autopopulate/map to custom fields on a task folder
Hi there.
The Request Form feature is a great tool. However, there is limited option to map to fields on the task that is created by the form. Currently, it is ONLY Title, Description, Start Date or End Date.
The ability to map a form field to a custom field on the task would make this tool so much more useful and productive.
When you create a form, you have to tell it which folder the task goes in, so it should provide an ability to map any form field with a custom field that is defined on the target folder.
Please consider making this change
Regards,
Tony Gill
@anastasia We are not currently using the API, but we would likely do something similar to @Jamie Baddeley.
The fields in the request form help categorize the task/project. When it gets exported (via csvย or api), having these request fields in a usable format make it easier to join the data with other sources. For example, if we want to join marketing performance data with hours from Wrike, for example, understanding the request type is critical.
thank you,
Josef
We would like to track our budget by using the request form to capture purchase requests. We need the index codes to map back custom fields in the project so we can sum up each area when exported.ย
@Joseph and @Janet, thanks a lot for your votes and for your use cases in particular!
I need it too.
Request Form without custom field mapping is not very usable.
ย
I requested this feature back in April 2016. Glad to hear that it will be available shortly... ย :)
Any update on when this feature will be rolled out?
Thanks everyone for the continued conversation here.ย
I still can't share a concrete release date, but I can tell you that this is something the team wants and intends to work on. As soon as I can share more details (and have more details to share) I will.ย

Hopefully the Wrike team can get this implemented ASAP! Our team would absolutely love to see this functionality as it is a limiting factor in our full use of the product.ย
I heard from a good source that this is happening nextย month. :-) This is a much needed feature!
Really excited to see this coming! I'd really like to be able to use this with the Allocated Hours custom field!
ย
I have to expand on Tom Ho's request for:ย
I know that the forms can currently route to another page based on a dropdown response; however, several of our clients and internal team want to know if a new field can appear under the existing question based on the dropdown choice. For example, We ask "Is this for an Event?" It would be nice if the client selects "Yes" that a field appears asking for additional event info like time, location, etc.

The sooner the better, thanks

The sooner the better. This feature is required for full integration with Jira's custom fields and using Wrike as a front-end for bug tracking. Please add ASAP.
Will open up so much functionality for us when we get this, hope this will come soon
This feature would make the forms' practicality incredibly flexible, looking forward to this feature.
One more vote from me for this feature!

Please add this feature. Being able to map to custom fields is a huge necessity. Frankly, without this feature the request forms areย very limited. Please add ASAP, as without auotmation of process is not possible.
Any update on a release date for this upgraded feature? ย We are anxiously waiting to beย able to use the request forms.
agreed this is very much needed feature-custom field pre population is essential to this becoming a better product
Dear Wrike team,
can you tell when will be this functionality added to Wrike?ย
Hi everyone, thanks for continuing the great conversations here! Wanted to share a quick update from our Product Team: mapping from Requests to certain types of Custom Fields is on our nearest roadmap, so stay tuned! We'll make sure to update this thread as soon as we roll out the release, and we'll be eager to hear your feedback about it. :)
@Anastasia Can you fill us in on the types of custom fields that will be included in the release of this feature?
@Samantha, sure thing! Our plans are always subject to change, but weโre happy to share the first types of Custom Fields we plan to roll this out for, which will be Text and Dropdown types. More to come soon! :)
Hi everyone, we just released mapping to text type Custom Fields :) Looking forward to hearing your feedback about it!ย
Hi Anastasia, how can we go about testing this? I don't see any extra options other than Title/Start or End Date and Description.
Hi Mitch! The Custom Field should be available in the Folder chosen as the destination (in step 2 here):
Once a Folder with available text type Custom Fields is chosen, you'll be able to select that option when selecting where you want an answer to appear:
Hi feature works on "Short answer" and "Paragraph" type, but not on "Dropdown" or "Checkboxes" yet, will it?
ย
i.e. take what ever is selected as option and map to the custom field
Paul
Hi Paul, thanks for the question! Yes, dropdownย types are next in line, and more options are to come after that :)
I'm unable to access this feature, is this available on business level accounts?
