[Status: Not Planned] Sorting tasks in List view with Ascending or Descending
Not sure if enough people use List view but I use it to set up Dashboards, and like to use it when I'm browsing for something.
These are the current options for sorting within List view:
It's great to sort, but can we get an A-Z, Z-A, Ascending/Descending options for each sort choice?
Thank you!
Most of our team uses List View as their primary preference. So much so, that we go ahead and set it to be the Default View for all Projects. I have run into this same need on a few occasions, too. Can't remember now what it was I was trying to get from it. It wouldn't be often we would want Descending, but it would be nice to have sometimes.
I'd like to see the ascending and descending filter options on dates too in the list view or is there a place where we can set it in the folder or project settings?
Hi all, thanks for this idea and input. It's very useful to understand how people use the views they prefer when the product Team are reviewing enhancements.
This has been shared with the Product Team already so if there any update on this in the future we'll be sure to share with you here. Thanks for posting!
Yes! I would like to see Dates ascending and descending! We have years worth of projects and I am constantly scrolling when sorted by date or name.
I would love to have the capability to filter dashboard widgets in ascending and descending order. Obviously this is a must have for dates, but I'd also like to see it by status.
Here's Why
Note: The ascending/ descending order capability should be available for every filter, but if I had to pick my top two, it would be the above reasons.
I'd also like to see the sorting options improved for both list view and dashboards. I use dashboards most of the time, but if you change one, it makes sense to change the other since you can go back and forth between them.
In addition to having more control over sort direction as is mentioned here, having more sort field options would also be a welcome change. For example, it would be wonderful to be able to sort by a custom field.
Hi all, thank you so much for your suggestions.
I can see this idea has reached the 60 vote threshold 👏 and I'm working with the relevant team to understand what status should be applied here right now.
In the meantime, workarounds give the team a great insight into how you use Wrike and how you achieve what you need without this functionality. And as always it helps other members here who may be facing the same problem and don't et have a workaround. Sharing is caring.
Keep an eye on the title of this post in the coming days for the first roadmap update 👍
@all, the team have suggested Not Planned as the status here. This simply means that the team does not have this kind of work scoped this year. It does not mean it will never happen.
During future enhancement discussions, this will be reviewed and if added to the roadmap we'll update you here.
For now, voting, and hearing your use-cases and what you're doing now adds huge value to the discussions mentioned above.
Thank you!
Would also like to see this A-Z, Z-A sorting feature added. Hopefully this gets on the roadmap soon.
Hi everyone,
This is currently Not Planned at the moment, but we are still accepting use cases and feedback on this topic. Be sure to keep commenting and upvoting this thread to help with our team's discussions about this suggestion.
Thank you for all of your feedback so far!
@... A use case for reverse sorting: When sorting a list by Status Wrike pushes the statuses closer to completion to the bottom of the sort list. However, activity on tasks becomes more frequent as they approach completion. As a user, I want to sort the tasks in reverse status order so that the tasks I need to access most frequently are "above the fold" and I can reach them more quickly.
When viewing completed tasks, it is helpful to see tasks in descending order so that I can see what was most recently completed.
If we're adding a list of tasks to Wrike, they are typically entered in the logical order of dependency.
Example:
New Project ABC
================================
Have initial brainstorming session
Review gathered information
Prioritize items
Have followup with team to review
================================
Very simple set of steps/tasks to accomplish
We don't want to number them yet because that's just additional work if we move items around as we're entering them into Wrike
If I highlight a task in the list and I click on "New Task", I'd like it to be inserted after the highlighted task
Pretty much follows what you'd don in a Word document, Excel, or even dare I say, MS Project.
Having the option to use "Task Entry" or "Task Create" date as a sort would be ideal in these situations.
Hey everyone, thank you for all of your use cases! They've been passed on to the Product team.
Hi,
I give projects a name and would like to be able to sort A-Z or Z-A.
I would like the option to sort ascending or decending since I cannot show the newest Projekt at the top. The latest version is always completely at the end of this list which is not so produktiv.
Please implement this sorting feature as quick as possible.
Thank you in advance.
Roy
Thank you for sharing your feedback and your use-case here Roy van Loon! That would come in very handy if the team decides to revisit this suggestion in the future.

Hi,
This is a great feature to have. Similar to others, we have daily reports going into a specific folder with the task name as the date (yyyy-mm-dd). As others have mentioned, since there is no sorting, the latest reports end up at the end. It would be great if ascending/descending is included.
Hello Sony Rajan, thank you for supporting this suggestion and your feedback. I've shared it with the Product team 👍🏼
Hi, I have the same need.
Additionally, when you choose to sort based on status, now the order is based on the order defined in the workflow. Would be great to also here be able to choose the logical (ascending) way, showing 'new' or 'idea' or... at the top, OR the vice versa (descending) way, showing 'in progress' or ... at the top.
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for sharing additional feedback and supporting the suggestion here Iline Steyaert!
