Viewing a Custom Field over Time (Column Chart)
In my last post, I talked about how my organization uses Wrike Analyze to get a high-level view of our project schedule. The example I shared counted how many projects were active during each month, but as we know projects come in all shapes and sizes.
To help us track the complexity of our projects we’ve created a custom field called Lift. Depending on the time, resources, and other factors; each project is assigned a lift of 1-8. When we map these out in Wrike Analyze it gives us a more accurate, but still very high level, overview of our project schedule. You can see in this example, how the forecast looks quite a bit different once we take Lift into consideration.
The Project Count (on the left) looks relatively steady through out the year, but we can see the Lift (on the right) starts low and then increases significantly.
To create this chart you will need to create a Custom Analytics Board and add a custom widget.
- Set to Column Chart.
- In the Values section add the Folder/Project Custom Field Numeric Value Sum.
- Click the pencil icon to edit the value and add in our filters. We will need an extra set of parentheses and a few friendly commas.
- The fields we are going to add are Folder/Project Custom Field Name, Project Start Date, and Project Due date.
- The first filter we are going to add will be for the custom field name. Right click on this field and click filter. You will de-select “all” and then you can type in the name of your custom field. For this example, it’s “lift”. Select the field you want, and click “okay”
- To add in the date filters, refer to my other post. It can be found here.
You can add a new value for each column you need to create.
Therese Forsyth This is great, thanks for sharing!
This is great and gave me a different solution to consider for an Analyze question I'm trying to answer!
