Sorting Tasks by Date (reverse)

Currently If you chose the Sort by Date function, the only option it gives you is list upcoming tasks at the top of the sort and the farthest tasks at the bottom of the list. Is there a way to reverse the sort where farther out tasks are put at the top of the list?

It'd also be good to choose which date - task creation date / start data / end date

Hey @Everyone, thanks for your feedback, it's passed to our Product team. For now, it's has few votes, so I'll try to refer other Community members here when possible. Once the suggestion hits 60 votes, we'll add one of the Product Feedback statuses to it. This doesn't mean, of course, that the team doesn't look and review posts with under 60 votes. If it's related to ongoing developments, they'll read it and consider the suggestions and use cases provided, so thanks for sharing 👍

Really need to be able to choose which way the Date sorts! Ascending or Descending would be a major improvement!!!

Hey everyone, a quick update here -

According to the Product team, there are currently no plans to add this suggestion to the short-term roadmap. I understand that this will be disappointing, but rest assured that all feedback is shared with the team, and if there are any changes here, I'll be sure to keep you posted.

Please add this feature.  Great value in quickly (efficiently) identifying most recent activities in dashboards.

Hi Joe Mccully and Bill Traver thank you both for adding your support here.

This is such a simple implementation and still not added because it wasn't voted up enough? I'd guess there's not a one to one of people who even find these community posts who actually would benefit from this feature. The customization for dashboards is already so sparse

Hi Noella Deonarain, welcome to the Community!

I understand your disappointment, but our team can't commit to working on all or even most of the suggestions here, and the votes are used to estimate the interest level for a suggestion. The team has many exciting updates planned for this year and many of them are based on Community feedback, so please keep an eye on our Brought to you by Wrike forum.

I agree with the team.  Just created a widget with a list of completed project requests on a dashboard, and the latest is at the bottom where you have to scroll down.  The oldest completed are at the top which makes no sense in this case.

Hello Loren Markle, thank you for bumping this thread. You can easily achieve this by using the New Table View, where you can sort by dates (start date, due date, completed date, etc.) and choose the descending order:

Is this what you were looking for?

Thank you!

We would love to be able to sort with newest tasks at the top. Sort of surprised this isn't a default option with the platform. Is this not a simple integration? Seems like it shouldn't be that hard to create this option. If this has to receive 60 votes for just consideration then it probably won't be considered for some time. I just so happened to stumble upon this thread, because I was searching all over for a way to accomplish this. Turns out we will all be waiting at least a few more years.

Juan,

The answer to your question was No.  I was looking at how to do a sort by date in a widget on a dashboard so the newest was on top versus the oldest.  In this particular dashboard, the Completed widget shows the completed tasks and those of most interest will be the ones just done, not 2 months ago (old news).

In one of the latest updates however, I see where this has been added in. The widget items are now shows in various formats, including Table.  In the Table column, you can sort ascending/descending on the date (or any other column) as you wish.  When the widget is saved, this reflects on the dashboard.  Problem solved!

Kaleb,

In which view are you looking to sort?

Upvoting this because I want to do this in a dashboard widget, not a table view.

Hi Lilian Cheng! 🙋🏻‍♀️

It is possible to sort columns in ascending or descending order in a dashboard widget when it's in table view. 👇🏼

Does that help? If not, please feel free to let me know if I misunderstood your comment. Thank you! 😊

Basudha Sakshyarika

Thanks for the detailed response!
I should clarify: the ascending/descend functions don't seem to work as I imagine after adding breaking down the widget by quarter. After selecting "Sort descending", I'd want the most recent quarters first then previous years.

Currently, then quarters are displayed in ascending order with no option to reverse it. (Screenshots attached)
