We use custom project status and it helps a lot. It was really really missing before.

There still are some rough edges. When you create a new project, you can define a default workflow for tasks, but you cannot define the workflow for the project. So you still need to go to the project detail window and change its workflow.

Also, if you want to change the workflow for the tasks in a project, you need to do it from the left column listing the projects, right-clic, etc.

It would be best if we could assign a default project workflow distinct from the default task workflow (globally and in the new project window).

It would also be good to be able to limit some workflows for tasks and some for projects. A long list of workflows is confusing for some users. 

Instead of workflow branching, we would prefer business rules for projects and tasks, being able to change some fields according to others, taking actions (specific emails, etc.)

This has been working great for us, the customization is exactly what we needed to help everyone understand that stage the project is in.

Just need to make sure to update reports when new categories are added.

Hi Lisa, the help articles were somewhat helpful, but a dedicated article to this topic would be helpful. Specifically, I would like to know how to make new projects take on the custom status when created. Is this possible? Right now, the project defaults to the default workflow, rather than the custom project status workflow we've created (similar to how the project took on the meaningless "Green" status prior to the custom project status feature).

We just need more guidance.

I'll second Phillppe Schmid's and Travis Premo's requests to be able to select a custom status workflow for a project when it is created. Right now every project (or subproject) we create has the default workflow assigned to it and there is no way to select a custom workflow for the project when we create it. After each project is created, we have to go one by one and change the project's status workflow, which can be time-consuming (not to mention tedious).

I'd very much like the same thing as Phillippe: The ability to select a custom status workflow for a project(s) and to select a separate workflow for all the tasks in that project at the same time -- i.e. when the project is created.
