Folllowing List for Post: [Status: Released ๐] If All Sub-Tasks are Marked Complete, Ask to Complete the Main Task
[this list is visible for admins and agents only]
This would be a welcome change!
I would like a feature that electrocutes someone of they assign you 500 sub-tasks in one day. Not a deadly zap, just a little zap to let them know they need to knock it off. At least lock them out of Wrike like when you enter the wrong password too many times.
This would be very helpful when there are a lot ofย subtasks that need adjusting. Then you don't have to open each subtask and change the date.
Yes, this gets my vote.
There are some quote complex tasks, that require specific work with each customer;ย which when completed would be great to seamlessly update parent task completion automatically. Great idea.
Additionally, figure out a way that prevents orphaned subtasks from appearing in table view when the parent task is completed.
Hi everyone, thanks for adding your votes and suggestionsย here! It's great to hear about your ideas, and it's especially useful at this time as we work on rethinking and enhancing the logic of subtasks and the way they tie in with their parents. I'll make sure to keep all related threads updates as we work on this. :)
This would be a huge time saver for our team! It would be great if it could even update the status to "In Progress" if subtasks have an active status. These little automations will really help our team as we grow the number of monthly deployments.ย
I also wish this feature will be available soon. It will be very helpful to have a quick visibility of task status
I just completed a huge project with many tasks and sub-tasks, and quite frankly, I had a great feeling of Checking off the Main project as completed.ย I prefer we stay with the "all sub-tasks have been completed" notification. Or, if this does become a reality, the option to turn it on or off.ย
I support @Marjorie Downey's suggestion that we have an option to turn it on or off. We frequently have a primary task with subtasks that are completed by different subject matter experts. The assignee of the primary task is responsible for validating that subtasks have been completed to standards before completing the parent task.
Hi guys, just to update the original request here. When you complete subtasks you are given an @mention notification. This has been around a while now but I just noticed this request now ๐
I've changed the title to 'released', but please continue to addย your own post to the Product Feedback section if you'd like to see some enhancements in this area ๐
Would love to see this feature! Any clicks we can eliminate for our team in a 2k task project workflow really helps our sanity... :)ย
This would be very helpful for us too! We vote for this too.
@Leslie & @Aleya Hey, thank you for reaching out here ๐ Currently you can automatically complete all of a task's active subtasks by completing a parent task and clicking "Complete" on the pop-up that appears. At the same time, you get a notification when you complete all subtasks as Stephen mentions aboveย ๐ย

Thanks for replying @Lisa. But we were looking for the function to work the other way around. We have different people assigned to subtasks, and therefore no one assigned to the parent task as such. So the best for us would be if the parent task automatically updated to "complete" once all the subtasks have been completed. It would then appear green in the gant chart too when we look at the overview. Right now it looks blue so we go in and expand the task, but it can be that all the subtasks are actually completed.ย You therefore need to expand all to see whats what.ย
ย
@Aleya, I see what you mean, thanks for providing detail here. I'll make sure to keep reporting all the feedback here to our Product team. Thanks๐

Hi @Lisa, we would also welcome this functionality. Is this something that Wrike can add or consider for a future development cycle?
Hey @Brent, sorry for the long reply here.
Do you mean the functionality that Aleya described above? For now, you can automatically complete all of a task's active subtasks by completing a parent task and clicking "Complete" on the pop-up that appears. Also, you get a notification when you complete all subtasks - that's what David asked for in the post and that's also why we added the "Released" status to this suggestion.
The functionality to update the parent task to "complete" once all the subtasks have been completed isn't available currently; I'll let you know if that changesย ๐
