Email integration and string parsing

I'm looking through the email integration docs and it seems like a fairly simple integration to just create tasks. I have a use case where I need to take different actions based on the text inside the email, perhaps grab a date as a string from the message or subject and create a task with that date, or better yet.. update an existing task based on different text strings because I'm parsing automated emails coming to me. Is there a plugin that is sophisticated enough to do something like that, or would I have to make it?
