I am slightly confused, if you cross tagged a task from one project to another project then that one task appears in both projects. What is the "task of the other project" Was there a task in the second project that was similar to the task from the first project that was cross tagged? Can you provide some clarity as to help resolve the issue.

Hi Ryan, My apologies for the confusion. That task that has got copied in both the project, i want to keep the task same but want to remove the cross tag. if i remove the cross tag it disappears the Task that was added. I want to have the tasklist but remove the cross tagging so that both the task are having different updates. Hope this clarifies. Let me know. Once again thanks for all your help.

Yes this makes more sense now. You basically want to duplicate a task so that the same task properties from one Project has a similar task in the second project. To demonstrate this i will show two projects, Project A and Project B. In Project A I have Tasks A, B, and C and in Project B I have Tasks D, E, and F.

As part of your use case, you want a task from Project A to exist similarly but different in both projects, but have separate updates. For this example it will be Task C from Project A. You have Cross tagged it to Project B so now your task lists look like this.

Once you remove the cross folder tag from Project B your task list will go back to it was to start, Correct?

So to have a Task C appear in Project B you will want to duplicate Task C and place in Project B.

Once you select the task that you want to appear in both projects click the three ellipses in the top right hand corner.

Once the menu opens up you will want to select the Duplicate feature.

A new window will open up that will allow you to choose the features you want to duplicate.

Make sure that you select the Location so that it will appear in Project B.

If you want the description, attachments, Assignees, Custom Field Values to duplicate, then make sure you check the boxes. If you do not want these to duplicate, then leave teh boxes un checked.

In my example here I am going to leave the title as is but you may want to change the title to remove the word "Copy"

Once you have every thing set up, you can then hit the duplicate button at the bottom.

Your tasks lists will now look like this once the duplication is complete.

Hopefully that helps.

Thanks Ryan for the detail notes, This is helpful 👍  There is one more question, Does it also copy the Time log the resource has added. Also does it maintain the Log history when we duplicate the task ?

Tushar Harrison The Log History and time log will not be duplicated, but you can add these manually, after it is created if you need to.
