I can upload videos but I can't watch them without downloading first unless I pay for an addon -  it seems just deliberately crippling your software when we (who work in software or web) all know how easy this is to implement.

I can guarantee there is no way our developers and client will bother, they'll just upload videos on Slack or personal google/OneDrive accounts so it's rather disappointing.

Hi John, Wrike Proofing is a detailed feature designed for Marketing Teams to, not only watch creative video content but to also mark-up and proof the video. It's currently available by default on our Wrike for Marketing subscriptions. I'd suggest reviewing if a marketing plan is something your company could benefit from having (and I can arrange a call with your account manager to discuss this) or we offer the add on for Wrike Proof for other subscription types.

Alternatively, you can use a supported cloud-based system like Google Drive to save and upload videos in Wrike and watch them from the cloud source platform.

Thanks for posting your request and if anything changes with this, I'll be sure to update you here 👍

Absolutely, I am sure there is a whole load of other stuff in that add-on but we're a software shop and we simply want to upload video clips normally for bug reports. It is extremely annoying if everyone has to download the video locally and play it in a separate application (and keep track of which video it is after download) compared to having it play directly from the click of a button. If I'm reviewing a video with a developer and we have to sit and wait for download of 100Mb that gets old fast :)

If you compare with adding an image to a task, I can click on the thumbnail and see it in a kind of lightbox type window and this is perfect... simple but effective. Imagine if every image has to be downloaded locally to view and that's how it feels ;)

In fact especially since Chrome and other browsers can automatically live-stream videos and display files, it is annoying that attachments like .log files must be downloaded too - why can't I get a direct link to the file?

You say:

>Alternatively, you can use a supported cloud-based system like Google Drive to save and upload videos in Wrike and watch them from the cloud source platform.

Can you clarify how I'd save videos to these platforms in Wrike? What we do historically is upload videos to a shared Slack channel and copy permalinks into our GitHub issues (GH doesn't allow video upload at all) so we could do this here, but if we can streamline that even slightly it would help. Of course, then we don't have a single platform so authentication becomes a pain.

If you could consider adding similar preview functionality to videos as to images, that is all I want as a feature request. Continuing to tell users that mark-up and proofing requires the addon makes sense, in fact if I am using your interface to preview (like with images) I am going to be reminded more often how great that would be ;)

Thanks.

Hi John, all valid points here and they've been passed to the relevant team for review, thank you! 🙂

I think adjusting/adding to the wording in your title would help others find this thread - do you mind updating this title so it's clearer and so more people have the chance to vote on it?

To clarify the point I made above: When I'm working on a video, often I save the file in Google Drive, I then upload it to the Wrike task. With this, you get an attachment icon in the task as normal, and once clicked, you'll be brought to Google Drive where (once you have permissions to view it) it plays the video on Google's platform.

As you can see below there are a few places you can attach from.

And then it looks like this on the task:

Unless we're actually proofing or approving video content, I use this approach. It's usually quicker to upload the attachment as I'm not actually uploading the source file, just the re-direct to where the video lives.

I understand this is not exactly what you're looking for so if and when I have any new information about this, I'll be sure to update you here.

Again, I'd suggest changing the name slightly so others can easily find and upvote your idea - I'm sure there are other people who agree with you and would like to vote for this.

Thanks for posting 🙌

Hello,

we would also be very happy about the preview function for videos.
I'm dropping short training videos on new Wrike features in Wrike. It's difficult to teach my colleagues to just communicate in Wrike and then they have to download the videos or search on a network drive.

Thank you and best regards,
Frank

I upvote this request. Not only should I be able to view video in comments, but in the task description as well

I would also like to see this as an option for adding video and not just images to a task. We ideally want our team to watch quick tutorial videos in Wrike without having to leave the interface or ap and be redirected to Dropbox or something similar.

Hello Tearah Fox, welcome to the Community 👋🏻

We currently offer Wrike Proof add-on as my colleague Stephen mentioned above. It's a default function in Wrike for Marketing since it's designed to focus on the needs of Marketing Teams for mark-ups and proofing the video.

If this is something you'd like to explore and think you could benefit I'd suggest you take a look at it 😊
