Templates - Preset Predecessors - Issues

I have created project templates with preset predecessors that work well when i create the project and the project starts as I would like. I have found that when I have to backlog the project start date when a project has been delayed the predecessors disappear and I have to redo them all.

How do I keep the predecessors for my project when I need to backlog everything without having to add them all again?
