Can you say more about what you are experiencing here? Are you searching for projects assigned to you? Tasks assigned to you? Across multiple folders? 

I would check out the Reports Overview article too.

In the Report builder, choose Projects in the Report type tab, and then check all your Projects' boxes in the Source data tab.

Hi Lisa, 

It's not the basic functionality that is giving me headaches! It's easy enough to figure that out.  The problems have been that the system is quite particular about what it picks up.  

I finally got my year-to-date report out yesterday. I was checking all parts of about 70 projects and counting up to see if my monthly ones were being shown.  I'm still not 100% certain I have everything.

You have to separately set all the projects to Completed to pick up 'completed status' (they can't just be all tasks completed). You must have assigned them to someone even if they are only being done by you. You must have beginning and end dates for all tasks, all projects...EVERYWHERE, which is what caused a problem yesterday for me.  I had one task that was repeated in different months' projects that wasn't 100% dated.  

So eventually it worked (I think) and finally picked up all or most of my completed projects.

Hi Catherine, I can understand what you mean. When you're deciding on your best practices around managing Tasks and Projects in your account, Reporting should always be kept in mind to avoid any complications when filtering out what you want. 
 
So for example, if you want to run a Project Report on Completed Projects, then this Status needs to be added on the Project level first otherwise the Report logic won't understand the ask. Perhaps you could run a Task Report instead, and group the Report by 'Parent Folder'? This will mean you don't need to worry about the status of the Project, but you will have a Report that includes all Tasks grouped by their Parent Folders. This might come in useful for you.
