Clunky CF Editing Process now in "Lightspeed"
When editing CFs in a task, [and I have a few to ensure we capture job related data, we cannot EASILY [like pre-"lightspeed"] enter data.
Previously we type data into the first CF, then tab, then enter data into 2nd or 3rd, then tab etc etc .... now, we have to TAB, the take hands off the kb to use the mouse to click INTO the next CF, then back to kb to enter data, then tab, then mouse, kb, then data etc etc. It is so so clunky and time wasting.
Who in the UaT department thought this was an acceptable change to invoke ?
Do they really have all that spare time to waste on EVERY Task, for every sub-task ?
I'm a REAL user, and the "new" Experience of lightspeed is shocking !!!
Why would you add more keystrokes, waste more time and not see the poor-logic in this design. I have thrashed this out with 5-6 Wrike Support staff [too colourful to repeat here, and supplied use-case videos to show the clunky manner of "lightspeed" CF editing in tasks/sub-tasks.
I request an urgent UPVOTE and support to make this process seamless. If not, credit my account by 30% so i can pay more staff to waste more time entering data the 'clunky' way.
Check out my clunky video. [opps, can't uploaids vids.]
Hi Peter Tisdall,
I agree that the functionality of the Custom Field entry on the Task Card is less seamless in Lightspeed.
However, my team and I have changed the way we edit Custom Fields slightly to make this process work better for us.
1. If you edit tasks in "Table (New)" view, it mimics the 'tab, enter, tab, enter' functionality you are describing without having to click in and out of the Custom Field cell every time. You are able to add Custom Fields to an entire space, or a specific folder/project for quick updates:
2. There is now the ability to automatically populate Custom Fields upon a given trigger in 'Automation Rules' - we have built this into the project/folder level across our spaces to save manual Custom Field updates on every task:
3. You can edit Custom Fields at the account level, which allows more customisation on each field than the Wrike version prior to Lightspeed did:
I understand this does not address the issue you have raised but may provide some strategies for management
Thank you
Hi Peter Tisdall, thank you for creating this post, I'm sorry to learn that these changes don't meet your expectations and please rest assured that your feedback has been noted. We will keep you updated in case there are any changes.
Jess Cuddy thank you very much for taking the time to share such useful insights! We truly appreciate your effort to help other users and we are sure that contributions like yours make our Community truly great 🙂 Thank you!
Thank you @...! Happy to help where I can if possible :)
Thank you Jess Cuddy, but this is only lovely if you want to edit a a few CFs, else you have a table that is 3/4 kilometre wide and you need to move EAST across the screen constantly. It is no good if you want to quickly add comments and description changes per Task. To do that means we need to click in/out of each task. Still very clunky and the the system should be fixed, not force users to perform 'work-arounds'.
Hi Peter Tisdall, if you preference is to edit in the task, the desktop app can mimic the tab, enter functionality at the task level instead of the table level, it's just got an extra few clicks. See below, hopefully this is helpful otherwise I have no other suggestions!
A couple of extra clicks, over 5 fields, over 127 tasks per day .... arthritis sets in big time. and click mouse, type on kb, click mouse, type on kb. It's clunky, and not efficient for anyone. WRIKE DEV Team > REVERT the system BACK to how it used to be .... stop changing when UaT clearly is not performing their tasks to raise a hand and say .... oh, it's clunkier than before' ...maybe not a good idea to roll this out.
Thank you so much (again) Jess Cuddy! I'm sure many users find your comments very useful 😃
Sorry to learn you're finding this behavior not very efficient Peter Tisdall, I'm sharing all your feedback with our Product Team 👍
