Deleting Projects - but they remain in additional locations

  • If those items are stored in additional locations, then they'll continue to live in those additional locations even after the project is deleted.

Currently we have Projects set up so we can run reports based on different aspects - Tasks within the Project.

- Executional efforts

- Execution Groups

- Type of Task

We are finding that when we delete a Project, the Task remain in these additional locations.   On the https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500005120781-Deleting-Projects site, it doesn't tell how to remove these in the additional sites at the same time as when we Delete the Project.   We are running into issues where teams/team members are still finding Task showing up under their Dashboards of "To do" even though the Project has been deleted.   No indication to them that it is deleted.    Example below so Tasks for Eloqua group but the 2309 Corp Testing Project was deleted.    Looking for way to ensure when a Project is deleted, we can clear out of these additional locations.   Thanks.

Hi Michelle,

have you tried deleting all tasks in bulk using list view instead of just deleting a project?

A project works like a folder, and of cource tasks are not automatically deleted if they are tagged to other folders too.

But you could select all tasks of a project at once (for example using list view with the option "Show tasks of subfolders" and delete them all, before deleting the project itself.

Hi Florian,

I appreciate you responding to my post.   I set up a new Campaign/Project request, then put it in List View and deleted the Task individually (couldn't see a group delete option) and then deleted the project.   However I'm still seeing some of the individual Tasks showing up under other Boards /Views.  Did I maybe miss something by not deleting every individual sub-task before deleting the Task?   Or are we still at the point where "If those items are stored in additional locations, then they'll continue to live in those additional locations even after the project is deleted."   and if so, do you know of an easy way to tell where they live so I know to go to those location to delete as well?   It would be nice if the status would change on the Tasks and Sub-Tasks or some indication that Project was deleted.   Thanks.

Hi  Michelle Lundy,

usually when you delete a project task go at the same level to parent folder/project/space.
So check if your task are now at space level.

The only way I've found to not show task to assignee, when project is deleted or completet is to:

1- Archive Projects -> you need to request beta to customer service
2- Move entire Project into a different space

Thanks for your feedback and more options to try.   We have a lot of folders and spaces.   We are looking to see if there ways we can maybe update our structure of project tracking so this is something to take into consideration.
