📈 Releases - New Dashboards in Wrike Labs, and Enhancements in Automation and New Board View (09/04/2023)
Feature Updates
- New Dashboards - in Wrike Labs 🔬
Account admins and owners are now equipped with the ability to enable a new Dashboard feature in Wrike Labs. New Dashboards include the option to display your data in multiple charts, including: Table, Indicator, Donut, Column, Bar, Line, Tree map, and Area charts!
Looking forward to your feedback!
- Automation - People-Type Custom Fields Available in the Action 🤖
Continuing with the improvements in Automation, we've now added support for people-type custom fields in the Change custom field action. As an example, you can now add a supervisor user to a task based on its current assignee:
- New Board View - Manage Location Display on Cards 🗺️s
The cards menu on the New Board view has a new addition - the “Location” toggle. Use it to control whether parent items are displayed on task cards for a more streamlined experience.
Only direct parent items are shown on cards. If the direct parent item is the location that is currently displayed on the board, it won't be displayed.
Questions? Please, let us know in the comments below 😁
Thanks. It would be great, if "People-Type Custom Fields" would also be supported in the action functionality "Add comment or mention".
Currently we want to notify people, specified in People-Type Custom Fields, but are not able to do that.
Thank you, Juan, for the details.
We are struggling with one of the changes as we can no longer have widgets as full-column. We forward plan and book up quite a bit, so the lack of a single full-column widget has introduced a lot of scrolling to view the items. If we increase the widget's height, it pushes down the widgets underneath and still introduces scrolling and relies on people to scroll past the widget.
Please can we keep the functionality where a widget can be in a single full column? I have attached a couple of screenshots to demonstrate my request.
I'm in agreement with Shruit Bedi - There are some larger lists that we have. It's a lot of scrolling in the new Dashboards.
Otherwise I'm a big fan of adding graphics to help display information! Nice work Wrike Team!
Agreed with Shruti Bedi request.
There is no Wrike Video training for the new dashboard functionally. Therefore, I am curious to see if the community will be willing to show how they are using the new graphics features. I am having a hard time getting the widgets to look properly. So far this is what I have and I do not love it.
I was looking for documentation on the new Request Form features that released this week and was surprised to not find it in the weekly release notes here.
update: Found it in the "Brought to you by Wrike" section. Here's a link: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/17265591155991--From-Wrike-Request-Forms-New-Features-and-Design-
Lea Labastida This other post might be helpful for you! https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/17181596763415--from-wrike-new-dashboards-are-here-upgrade-to-the-new-experience-in-wrike-labs
My experience was that I had to play around with the task filters a LOT to get the right data + visual to show up like I wanted to. Like anything, there's a learning curve. Carve out some time to play around with it!
I like the ability to add graphics to the dashboards, I think this is a good addition but like Lea Labastida, I would like to see some useful examples.
Please can you look into allowing height resizing for each widget - because as much as I like the new graphics inclusion, I need the dashboards to remain functional, similar to what Shruti Bedi discussed.
Full screen height mixed with variable height widgets is essential to get more information on 1 screen.
Thank you all for your comments!
Marco Eberl, may I please ask you to elaborate on your case? We'd need to understand how you'd like to combine these options and why the current action "Add comment or mention" does not meet your needs. Thank you!
Shruti Bedi thank you for your detailed feedback, I've shared it with our Team 👍 In this case, the current workaround would be to create a separate Dashboard to achieve this layout. We'll keep you informed in case there are any changes.
Mike Fank Lea Labastida Garth Murray thank you for your comments and Daisy Hibbard thank you for sharing this information with the Community.
Glad to see that you checked the full post about the new features and design of request forms Meredith Selden and shared it here 👍 This feature will be mentioned in the following Notes, since in this one we included all the updates regarding the last week 🙂
@... When you use the functionality "Add comment or mention" you have to configure, which persons should be mentioned.
However, it is not possible to add people type custom fields there.
For example, we have a people type custom field for "Accountable Sales". But i cannot add this custom field in the options like you see here
In the automations for custom item types, in the functionality "Add comment and mention" there is no ability to choice of owner. We need the ability to add mention the owner. Is it something you are woking on it?
Marco Eberl thank you for the additional details. May I ask if selecting the users or user groups wouldn't work in your case?
Niki Mavropoulou thank you for chiming in! Please note that the "owners" option is available only in project custom item types. In case you are using task custom item types, the option is not displayed because tasks don't have owners but assignees 👍
The new dashboard widgets looking great. But a very important function ist lost. If I have a custom field with multiple values I missed the AND or OR function to create a filter.
Example. Customfield A: apple, peach, banana, onion, tomato, cucumber
Filter: show me all elements with value apple AND banana
Actually it shows all elements with apple OR banana. Please fix and bring back the choice. Otherwise it is a backstep.
No, that's not helpful, because we need to notify the specified person from the custom field. The person is different for every project, so a static configuration of a person or person group would not help.
Hi Marco Nipkow, thank you for your comment! About the case you describe, only items that meet all your filters will be displayed. Would you please include a screenshot of the behavior you are experiencing to illustrate this case so we can better understand it and provide you with an accurate reply?
Marco Eberl thank you for the follow-up, I've passed your feedback on to our Product Team 👍
@...
Old Widget contains all words
New widget ist not able to filter different conditions in the same custom field. This result is not what I need. Because I need only the element that contain "NB" AND "Einspeisemanagement" AND "Anfrage"
Hi Marco Nipkow, thank you for your reply. I've opened a ticket with our Support Team so that one of our agents can investigate this behavior and provide you with an accurate reply 👍 You will be contacted shortly.
In the meantime, if you have any additional questions, please let us know.
Hi again! I'm back with some more feedback about the new Dashboards based on a discovery we made today. We're huge fans of now being able to visualize what's assigned to team members in a chart, however, we've run into a limitation with Assignees that we're hoping can be addressed soon! I made a visual below to show what happens when you don't use Filters vs. what happens when you do.
We want to be able to filter the Assignees to only show certain people in a chart. So in the bottom example, there are 7 people in IT and we want to see how many tasks are assigned to each team member in bar-chart form and NOT have an "Other" bar show up like it's doing now and grouping the other 3 people into one bucket. We want to see 7 bars total, 1 per team member, using filters.
The interesting thing is you can see in the top example (Marketing) there are SIXTEEN bars! If you don't filter by Assignee, it shows WAY more people, BUT it also shows team members who are collaborating with Marketing in the chosen location (Data source) but people whose capacity doesn't need to be tracked (stakeholders and reviewers from other departments).
I hope this makes sense, if not please let me know!
Hey Daisy and thank you for your feedback! Is it correct that you don't want the "Other" column to appear when you select specific assignees in the filter? We try not to overload charts with too many data points, so we group smaller values under the "Other" category so you can focus on the significant ones.
Also, I wanted to confirm that when you use some data source and break it by assignee you should see all people who are assignees on any of the tasks included in the selected data scope.

Hi Vladimir Bugay, thanks so much for the quick response! You're correct in interpreting all of my feedback correctly!
If I filter any value to a small subset (doesn't matter if it's Wrike or not), I would expect the system to show me only the values I selected without grouping any of them together. So in this specific case, we want to see how many active tasks are assigned to each IT member; doesn't matter if they have 1 or 100 tasks assigned-we need each team member visualized separately. Grouping the smaller values into an "Other" category doesn't bring us the value we're looking for. We can quickly visualize the capacity for 4 people but need to hover to see the other 3 and sort of do the visual math in our heads, and these extra steps slow us down.
And yes, in the IT use case above, I have the Data source set to their entire Space, so I would expect the Assignees to include anyone in that Space who has something assigned to them. In the case above for Marketing, it's set to a single project (the Kanban board), which includes stakeholders who are assigned to review tasks and sometimes other people outside of Marketing who help, so that's why so many more assignees appear, which is great to have that ability (that's the functionality I'd expect), but it rolls into the IT use case where I then want to filter to only show the members of the Agile Marketing team to see their capacity. I don't need to see any of the stakeholders or other people who are assigned tasks to help the team.
Thanks so much for listening to this feedback and let me know if I can help explain anything in more detail for you and the team!
Hi all!
Is there not a way to move a dashboard to a different space? I've been poking around for a while and can't seem to figure it out.
TIA!
Hey Anna! Dashboard duplication/moving is not there yet, but it is coming later as a part of the bigger pack of changes. Please give us some time :)

Cool, thanks for the quick reply, Vladimir!
RE: Automation - People-type custom fields
It would be very convenient to be able to assign to the author instead of just specific users. This would solve (at least from my perspective) the needs laid out in this community post: auto-assign the task from a submitted request form to the Wrike user who submitted the request form – Wrike Help Center
Hello! I do not yet have New Dashboards, but am wondering if they have been removed from the Labs website? I have tried clicking through every link I could find on here and other Community resources, but the option to enable New Dashboards is nowhere to be found. I do remember seeing the "Upgrade to New Dashboards" button a couple weeks ago, but it is now gone from my Dashboard.
Any advice? Is this something my company/administrator could have disabled?
For ref, here is the current version of the labs page I'm seeing: https://www.wrike.com/labs/
Annie, it looks like the account owner disabled new dashboards on your account, and that's why you no longer can see them. We made a lot of improvements in the past few weeks, and more are coming, so it may make sense to reconsider and try them out again.

Hi Kelsey Rudolph, thank you for your comment. In the case you describe, may I ask if it would be helpful to add a conditional question to your request form to add the relevant assignee?
Thank you!
Hi @... - I appreciate your response! Our team has previously explored this option, however, we've already encountered pushback due to the existing number of questions on the forms (which are non-negotiable). Managing our team of over 50 members in such a scenario would pose significant administrative challenges as well. While this approach might be suitable for project ownership, I'm uncertain about its applicability within a multi-task blueprint launched via a request form. Especially when we intentionally leave a few tasks unassigned to be manually assigned to the requester. Below is a screenshot I captured from what I was attempting to accomplish. When a new task is created within the applicable space, and is left unassigned, it would assign the author. While your suggestion makes sense, I don't think it would work in this situation.
Hi Kelsey Rudolph, thank you for your reply. In this case, would it help to create a rule to @mention the author of an unsigned task to let them know that they should assign the item to themselves?
Anna, I just wanted to let you know that the move/duplication of new dashboards has been released. Have a lovely weekend!
