Job Role Effort Allocation

I have created project blueprints and used Job Roles to assign project effort. However, when I assign a user to that task based on their job role, the effort is not transferred to them.  For example, if one of the roles in my project blueprint is an analyst, I will generate the blueprint for the projected project. Once that project goes live, I want to add the user whose role is "analyst" and remove the "analyst" tag...but in doing so, the effort isn't transferred to the user even though their job role is analyst. So I've taken the time to plan out how much effort each role will need in the project but once I add the actual users who do those roles, the effort is not transferred. Can anyone help?
