🦾 Releases - Automation Updates, Generative AI and Rollups in the New Table View (08/07/2023)

Feature Updates

  • Automation - Expanded Custom Fields Action & New Importance Action 🤩
Our Change custom field action was previously limited to text- and checkbox-type custom fields. But not anymore! We've expanded its capabilities to cover currency, number, percent, single-select, and multiple-select fields, offering you more customization than ever before. To add to the excitement, we're introducing a brand new Change importance action. This intuitive feature allows you to set task importance for tasks and task-based custom items directly through automation.
Check out more details in this Community post 📌
We're thrilled to announce the successful launch of our Generative AI in item descriptions. All eligible accounts can now activate this powerful feature in Wrike Labs and experience AI like never before.
With this new feature, you can create descriptions that align with your brand or personal voice. It helps to maintain a consistent writing style across your content.
Plus, it can adjust the tone of your voice, correct typos, translate your descriptions into various languages, summarize them, and more - all with just a few clicks ⚡️ More info in this post!
  • New Table View - Aggregation Panel for Selected Cells and Dates Rollup 💡
Selecting several cells in a column on the New Table view now reveals an aggregation panel in the bottom right corner of your view. This handy panel showcases the calculated sum, average, and MIN/MAX of your selected values.
Please note: this aggregation feature only appears if the column field type is number, currency, percent, duration, or date. For dates, only MIN and MAX aggregations are available.

Moreover, we've introduced rollups for start and due dates. You can now automate the calculation of dates from sub-tasks on individual cells using the MIN/MAX buttons that appear on hover, or for an entire column in the Table via the Calculate subitems menu.

I like the new MIN/MAX feature for automatically rolling up dates to parent tasks.  One suggestion, could you please implement history logging for these changes on the impacted parent tasks?  This will help so we can look back and see each time the parent task dates were updated.  This would be extremely useful in case the automated calculation is turned on by accident.

Also, does this apply only to the project where this is being turned on or is this across the entire Space?  I would hope just a single project, however since it says "Projects" below, it makes me concerned.  If this does apply across an entire Space, it could mess up other people's dates/projects in the Space for those who do not want to use the automation.

Please add an automation rule to add a secondary approver once the primary approver provides approval.

Unfortunately, the aggregation panel is only useful as an additional feature to aggregation itself, otherwise it's a huge waste of time to have to select cells in order to see the sum at a parent task level. Without the ability to rollup effort at the parent task level, we used aggregations. Now without the ability to do either, what are we supposed to do to view rolled up effort?

Please fix the bug, that automation rules do not work with API calls or together with other automation actions.

At the momen automaion rules do not react on trigger, that are made by API or other automation rules. That prevents a lot of automation and causes a lot of manual work costing money.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, everyone! 🙌

Denis Lorber We're happy you're happy 🙂

Michael Kelley They will work for the projects you have open in your New Table view, not all projects in space 👍

Jennifer Wood I've already passed your concern to your Account team in Wrike, they will reach out to help!

Sven Passinger I'll now ask our Support experts to look into this 👍
