[Duplicate] Create multiple tasks by pasting a list from the clipboard

Note from Wrike Team: Check out Paste multiple tasks or sub-tasks to vote for the original request.

Prior to moving to Wrike our team used Asana. One of the features we miss is the ability to create many tasks at once by pasting a list copied from a text editor. Often, tasks will be shared in list form within an email, document or spreadsheet and it is a huge time saver to be able to turn them into tasks via a simple copy & paste rather than having to retype them or copy them one at a time.

Bonus points if Wrike could intelligently assign a user and due date based on data contained within the pasted list (the way Google Calendar automatically extracts date and location from calendar events). For example, if one line of the pasted list read "Review website by 12/15 - John Smith" Wrike would assign the user John Smith a task titled "Review website" with due date December 15th of the current year.

Hi Josh, thanks for your feedback here. I think this is an interesting approach.

You might already be aware that we have some integrations where you can create tasks from email and import multiple tasks from Excel spreadsheets that may come in useful.

Thanks for sharing here!

I have the same request.

I get an email from some one with

  • Task1
  • Task2
  • Task3

So all I want to do i copy and paste them into 3 seperate tasks.

Do I have to paste them into excel and then import that ?

Hi Julian! Welcome to the Community.

You can use the Wrike email integration so you can 'send' the email to Wrike to create a task with this information. It will only create one task per email but you can go straight to the task and duplicate it twice so you have all the details in three separate tasks that you can then format and work from. It's not exactly what you're looking for but would help get the info from the email to Wrike quickly.

Alternatively, you can use the import Excel feature by using the importing template. Once you fill this template out, you can then import it to Wrike. Each option really depends on what best suits you and the level of detail you want to capture when creating the tasks in Wrike.

Let me know what you think of the above options and thanks for sharing your input here! We'll ensure it's reported to our Product team [thumbs up]

Thanks for the welcome and the suggestions - They both seem like using a sledge hammer to crack a nut!
Just looking for a quick and simple way to be able to a few tasks-  might be from an email, meeting minutes or other list.
This is in Trello, Taskworld and other products - however i appreciate it may not be a trivial thing to add this functionality and it seems i'm not the only one looking for this.
Keep up the good work and hope it gets up the list on the development pipeline.

I agree, it's much easier just pasting the list of tasks instead of having to first open excel, then paste the list, save the excel file, import it and then remove the excel file.

+1 for this request. Pasting a list to create multiple tasks would be incredibly useful and used many times.

+ 1 for this request. This is the best way to create new tasks! Import documents and e-mail doesn't work for me, too slow, complicated and hard way to do.

It appears that a similar request exists from Matt Pavid:

Paste multiple tasks or sub tasks

Perhaps votes for these feature requests for the same feature can be consolidated?

Thanks Doran! All feedback posts come from our Wrike account and reported to our Product team and duplicates and their votes are reviewed too.

Considering the article you've linked to here has more votes, I'll close this as a duplicate and redirect other members to Matt's post.

Thanks so much for spotting this 🙌
