Calculations in Request Forms

Hi,

Our team is currently restructuring, and what we've found would be really useful as added functionality is for the request forms to perform calculations.

Our request forms ask for a variety of products, much like an order form, with a total cost at the end, and it would be the best of both worlds if Wrike could do this for us. Currently we have to give the "menu" to order from in a separate folder for access or to sent via email for reference, then the user chooses what they want, and would have to manually figure it all out for their own costs.

If anybody has any similar requirements or has a workaround solution that would work for us that would be perfect. i.e. If the request forms could take into account costs as well as brief descripters (title, brief info, deadlines etc).

Thanks
Holly

Hi Holly! I noticed that you also commented in another thread related to budget calculations - thanks for that! I'm intrigued by the idea of having it in Requests, though. Do you see these calculations happening at the moment of Request submission, or could they be calculated at some point when the created task is opened? In the second case, it could be sufficient is something like this existed in the Workspace, but in case of the former option, it sounds like some magic would need to happen prior to that. Would love to hear what you think!

Hey Ana,

Thanks for your reply! :)

This thread relates to having the calculation in the request form itself via some clever magic, however I think it would mean that Wrike would have to have some sort of database to pull the calculations from in my use case, though I'm sure there are other cases that may need a simpler calculation.

I guess my use case would be more like an 'order form' option, which we would need to tie in with other brief elements. i.e. dates, descriptions, that would need to change automatically, so a client could "change their mind" if it was too expensive, before submitting the request, or swap and change order items and see a real time update of the cost much like a shopping basket would.

I've mocked a (very) quick idea of what I mean below, where the cost price (right hand side) would alter depending on the number entered in the box. This would allow the user to change their mind and instead choose 6 of Asset Type 3 instead of 10, and be able to add another more expensive item instead and get the most out of their budgets.

Hello Holly and Anastasia,

I have just read this thread and this is really helpful feature request.

I am not sure if this has been developed already or in development with Wrike; is there any way you can please update me what is happening with this request?

Thanks

Kunal

Hi Kunal, sorry for the delayed response. This is something the team will be thinking about during their next review of Request forms, however, I have no further information than that right now. They found the idea super interesting. I'll drop back here if and when I have more info 👍

Holly Benjamin - Your comments are a couple of years old, but fast forward to now, and I too wish Wrike request forms offered more flexibility in the way of calculations and other more advanced form building options.

We've solved for this need in the meantime using a couple of additional paid services. For our advanced forms that require capabilities not yet available in Wrike forms, we're using Formstack with webhook integration to Wrike Integrate to generate the appropriate Wrike tasks.

Here's a screenshot of a quick example form I set up in Formstack, based on your mockup. Updating any quantity auto-updates the associated read-only Cost field as well as the read-only Total Cost field.

Thank you all for the comments on this thread, although frustrating with no improvements concerning calculations in request forms, it is refreshing that there are others that would find this useful.  We are currently looking at moving our requisition form to Wrike and would love if there was a field/option to perform embedded calculations in the request form so we could benefit from Wrike's workflows and approvals.  Even though the comment is five years old we will look at other Wrike Sync options as suggested in Laura Boylan's comment.  Thank you!
