Chat inside of Wrike
Communicating and collaborating on tasks via Wrike comments, email, inbox, and streams is way too slow. It's so much quicker and easier to discuss a task in Slack - but then that discussion can't be easily tied to the task that was discussed. And with an increasingly remote workforce, discussion via Slack or Teams or whatever is the main way work is discussed.
If Wrike included chat tied to each task we could discuss tasks live where they should be discussed, and have that discussion captured in the task itself. Failing that, perhaps Wrike could partner with Slack to embed chat within Wrike (automatically creating channels for projects or tasks, with UI to view or tie them to specific tasks).
I've searched these forums and found this has been suggested since 2017 or thereabouts and despite a lot of upvotes is currently "not planned". That's too bad. Wrike has a fresh and modern feel (coming from Jira) and I feel could implement a per-task or per-project chat very well. And supporting more interactive communication is key to the future of remote work.
Hi Dave Truman, welcome to the Community, and thank you for posting!
At the moment, you can integrate Wrike with Slack which would allow you to create tasks from Slack and receive notifications from Wrike on Slack. I'll pass on your feedback related to a live chat function to our team👍🏼
Hi @.... Thanks for responding! Yes, we have the Slack integration set up and it's fine for what it does (we use it to notify a channel of a new task, and sometimes to create a task from a Slack message; anything else is too noisy).
Got it, thank you for the clarification Dave Truman👍🏼
I, too, would like Wrike to integrate an application native chat option. While integration with Slack is okay - it does require us to have an account - and it's near impossible for me to ask our entire team to sign up for slack - especially when we have to work through our IT security to add programs. We've resorted to posting notes and updates within a specific subtask for each project. Please consider instant messaging or white boards or some other feature that will enable realtime discussion on projects. Thanks!
Dave Truman I am interested others workflows in Wrike, why doesn't the in task stream work for you? We set up the Stream view for each project, that way we can see all the conversations for each project.
Hi Russell,
A large part of our team is remote, so we need to have realtime discussions via chat to get tasks done. Comments in Wrike are like emails - they are just not quick enough to use for this, even if you use the Stream view to display the comments that way.
The team uses Slack for these realtime discussions, and it works fine for this. But being outside of Wrike, the discussion is not captured there and project knowledge may be lost, which is not ideal.
+1 this would be immensely helpful
Thank you for the +1, Shayan Asadi! We will ensure your feedback is sent over to the responsible team 👍
