Automate Closing Out Projects

Too frequently I find that our Wrike instance is clogged with completed projects that remain in our main folders because:

A. Once the subtasks are completed, the parent tasks don't mark themselves "Complete"

B. Once all tasks in a project are completed, the project doesn't mark itself "Complete"

C. Once a project is completed, the project doesn't move itself to the Archive

I would love to see these steps automated.  It seems redundant to take these steps once I've marked the last task in a project completed.  Once the last task is marked complete, Automation Sorcerers should take over and mark the project "Complete", and move the project to a relevant Archive folder.

Has there been any update with this?
We are currently onboarding to Wrike and realized that even if a project is marked as complete that the tasks still stay active. That's a big problem in basic project management and doesn't make since to have tasks remain on a completed project.

Hi Dustin Beaty and @Everyone!

Some of your suggestions here are now possible with Wrike's Automation Engine!

You can change the project's status automatically if all its tasks are completed:

It's possible to automatically move projects to archive once they are completed:

Please let me know what you think!

Sorry for the late response. We had put this aside while we worked on other buildout in Wrike. But this actually just because a big problem with the wrapping of the second quarter. So now we have a ton of projects that need to be completed and moved, but there are still active, scheduled tasks in them.

Which is more the point that people were talking about here. It's not a full stack solution. We can move them, but the tasks don't change. Ideally we have a rule that if the project is completed then you could move it, like is done here, but it also needs to be able to do things with tasks. Either move them out to a new project or a to be dealt with folder or auto mark them as complete.

Also, a rule that if a project is marked as complete, but there are active tasks, then select a new status and an action to mention the accountable person for that.
