Desktop App would not update, un-install
Wrike for Windows failed to update itself on every launch for about a week. Eventually I tried to uninstall it - this also failed.
I had to reboot my computer, un-install it, and then install it clean.

This happens to me every time there is a software update, and the problem is, it is not easy to find the updates and I have to take the time to remember how to uninstall and reinstall. Annoying when I am just trying to get some work done.

Hello, I've had the same problem for a long time, on multiple computers. Is there a fix yet? Also, today I edited a task description on one computer (which showed the task description being blank) and now find the task description populated with old material on the other computer.
Lisa Hello, is there any fix fort his bug? I am having the same issue as well and would prefer not to perform a clean install with every update. Thank you.
Hi Derek Lemoine and Eric Fletcher, apologies for the delay in getting back to you here.
Are you still experiencing this? If so, let me know and I'll raise a ticket for you for further assistance 🙂

I am having this problem as well. I am using the Wrike app on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. I currently have Write 2.6.1 installed.
When I load Wrike, I get a message saying an update is available. I click "Install Now". The Wrike app then instantly disappears and that's it - nothing else happens. I can wait as long as I like and when I load the app again, it still says an update is available.
The same thing happens when I use the manual "Check for Updates" function.
It appears that the update functionality is almost completely broken. The app can determine whether an update is available, but it cannot actually install an update and attempting to install an update makes the app crash.
Should I raise a support ticket for this?
Dealing with exactly the same thing as Hugh. Tried to uninstall, but windows doesn't seem to be able to do it. I'm going to try to reboot like the other user, uninstall, then do a clean install. Updates definitely need to be fixed on Win 10 64bit
Hey Hugh Heinsohn and Alex Phillips, I've just raised you a Support ticket. Someone should be in contact with you soon!
Same problem here. Gantt Charts are all ruined.
Also don't have an option to toggle dependencies on in the desktop app so recreating everything via the web based version now requires regathering all of my dependencies manually and without being able to see them in the desktop app.
Hi Michael Krause, I see that you've raised a ticket with Support here. If you have any further questions, be sure to let me know!
Correction, the update is slow but changes in the web app vanish after being created there. They show up in the desktop app and the predecessor feature in Gantt charts has vanished from the desktop app.
Thanks for getting back to us, Michael Krause! The Support team is looking into this and they'll update you in the ticket as soon as they can!

Is there an update on when this will be fixed? We've had this issue since we purchased more than a year and a half ago. My support ticket earlier this year also said to uninstall and reinstall, which is not a sustainable solution. Users will be frustrated and not want to use the product. I'm trying to upgrade now and in the same loop as always.
Hi Vicki Jones, I'm sorry to hear that you're still experiencing this! I'm going to raise another ticket for you so that our Support team can look into this again. Someone will reach out to you soon!

This is apparently an issue generally. Be nice to know that Wrike understands why this happens for so many customers and that they have plans to fix their problem moving fwd.
Hi Robert Stabbert, welcome to the Community 👋 It looks like the last report here before your comment were from some years ago. Could you please let me know if you're experiencing any issues with the Desktop app? Thanks!

I am still having this issue. It's happening today and after a reboot of my Windows 10 computer. The sequence is:
1. Start Wrike.
2. Wrike notifies me that an update is available and offers me the choice of installing now or installing later.
3. I click "Install Now".
4. I see the Windows notification that an application is trying to change my computer and I give it permission to proceed.
5. The update appears to start and then crashes within a second or two. Wrike is not running. No update is installed.

Just wanted to report that I had this issue (crash on update / uninstall), and running the Wrike executable as admin allowed me to successfully complete the update.
This suggests that the Wrike updater / uninstaller is probably attempting to perform some action which requires escalation and instead of asking for higher privileges simply crashes - something that should probably take less than 5 years to resolve...
I'm having the same issue. Can't update the Windows app. Can't uninstall the Windows app.
Hi Oliver Robson David Ray Cole, welcome to the Community. I've informed our Support Team about this, and one of our agents will reach out to you via email to assist 👍
Hi Juan, I am no longer seeing the issue. It appears the the latest Windows update may have resolved the problem. Yesterday, I was able to uninstall the app and re-install with the latest version of Wrike. Thanks! --drc
I am having the update issue. Wrike will not open without me updating it. But when I click on Update Now, Wrike just closes and does nothing. I currently cannot use Wrike at all. VERY frustrating!!!!
Hi David Ray Cole, thanks for the follow-up, glad to hear all is working now 👍
Hello Mark Gauthier, welcome to the Community. I've created a ticket with our Support Team on your behalf, you'll be contacted shortly.
I am having the same problem. Just updated both on Mac and Windows desktop and update won't work. get the spinning wheel and can't unstall to reinstall. Can't repair either. Says there's an install problem.
