Hours Budgeted versus Time Spent Alerts
Hello! I'm posting this after a call with our Wrike representative to attempt to put a bug in someone's ear about this issue. We work with contracts and have a certain number of hours we have allotted to each deliverable within that contract, which we input using a custom field called "Hours Budgeted." Part of my job is to make sure we don't go over the hours budgeted for our projects and contact our clients if we're approaching hours budgeted and need additional time to finish.
I would love to have a feature that would send an alert to the person working on the project or task when 50%, 75%, and 95% of the budgeted hours have been tracked. This would help us ensure that we're staying within our budgeted time and contacting our clients in advance to ask for additional time if needed.
If you would also like to see a feature like this, please comment your support and any additional time tracking features that you'd like to see in Wrike.
This would also be extremely helpful for our team. Taking it a step further from a project accounting perspective, assigning hourly rates (resource cost, billable rate) with the ability to determine margins on projects (similar to functionality in PSA systems) would be awesome.
I would love to see this get more robust. The time tracking for us is useless because of the way it cant report against what is planned
Along the same line, being able to compare budget with actual cost. An alert letting us know that we are approaching our budget for that project would be extremely helpful.
Completely agree this would be an very useful feature. Ive had similar calls with Wrike who have advised i 'just look at the Estimate Vs actual hours and work it out'; frankly this is not helpful or viable given the number of concurrent projects we manage.
Adding to this it would be ideal if you could also set up a notification in case the total time spent inside a folder reaches a certain limit. In our case, we have folders set up for clients and we know how much time we have budgeted for each client each month, would be really nice to know if we're getting close to the limit without running custom reports multiple times.
I also would like to see Budget Hours vs. Time Spent. I was trying to create a custom report for this, and I can't seem to even do that - Time Spent is not an available filter on the Project Reports, only the Timelog Reports, and vice versa. I have over 90 projects to track and this would be so helpful!
I work in a marketing agency and 100% this feature would be useful. Please add it Wrike team! 🤞
Hey everyone! Apologies for the delay in response here.
The Product team are interested in working on this suggestion this year, but there is no ETA at the moment. As soon as I have any more information, I'll be sure to let you know.
Hi all!
Our team have been working on a feature to set up rates for users and job roles so that you can track project accounting data to view, track, and forecast projects' cost and revenue. It's now open for Beta signup.
If this sounds interesting to you, please head over to the following thread and leave comments there.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
Yes please add this!!
Hi Raquel Casertano! Our team has recently released Budgeting, and although it doesn't have alerts currently, it still might be helpful to you, please check it out here: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058001433-Budgeting-in-Wrike

I could also use this. We allocate our clients a set number of hours to work with graphic artists, would love to be able to set automation triggers for TIME SPENT, to alert everyone prior to exceeding the allocated time.
Thank you for supporting this suggestion JOSH HONEYCUTT!
Hi Wrike team, I see that more budgeting features have been added at the top tier of the Wrike product plans but it still does not satisfy the original request here, is this in the works?
From the original post:
"I would love to have a feature that would send an alert to the person working on the project or task when 50%, 75%, and 95% of the budgeted hours have been tracked. This would help us ensure that we're staying within our budgeted time and contacting our clients in advance to ask for additional time if needed."
Currently, I do not see any feature which allows you to track a budget for a specific task (not just projects), see how many hours remain (it is not helpful to only see dollar amounts), or give alerts based on how close a task or project is to going over budget.
What is Wrike's solution for their customers who are creative agencies that need to manage hours spent across many many projects? Many of your customers (like my team) are managing too many projects to be able manually check every single task to make sure it isn't going over budget on a daily basis. It is why we use a project management tool in the first place. Are there any third party tools that work with Wrike you can recommend to your customers to make up this deficit?
Thanks! Really need this solved as it is a very basic function of managing projects and I see that folks have asked this in different ways over the years.
I just stumbled across this thread, and I would love to see this capability implemented. I work for a marketing agency as well, and it would be extremely beneficial for us to be able to see when the time logged is nearing the budgeted hours/efforts for the tasks without having to manually check. Thanks!
Three years later... we'd still love to see this basic function added.
Hi folks! Thank you for sharing detailed feedback here, please rest assured we pass it on to our Product team regularly.
I don't have an update here at the moment as these alerts aren't something our team has on their short-term plans. Please continue voting and sharing your use cases here as your votes and feedback help our team understand how popular a suggestion is.

In the short term, does Wrike have any use cases they can share for how businesses that run on retainer hours are utilizing wrike for multiple projects? Wrike pitches itself as a PM tool for creative agencies so I am hoping the reason this is not being prioritized is because your creative agency customers found a solution to this already that you can share.
Thank you!
Hey Felicia Jarvis, I'll pass your question to your Customer Success manager and ask them to reach out to you about this 👍

Our team would benefit from this feature. Up voted and eager to see this become a standard Wrike feature.
Same here. We need an automation alert to get sent to our project manager as our workers are approaching xx% of the hours budgeted for a task.

Hello everybody, we had the same issue in the office, that's why we developed our tool using the API, and it's working great, let me know if you would like to talk about it.
Thank you very much for offering your help with this Jacqueline Juarez! 👏
My annual visit to this section.....please address what the original poster requested. Many agencies need this function!
We would also appreciate this function, as we have multiple clients on retainer which essentially means they have paid for a certain amount of hours per month. Would very much welcome a report and alert to tell us how they are tracking against the hours, and if we ever go over.
