Approval by Custom Field Amount
Hi!
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to create a workflow with approval levels based off the number (dollar amount) in a custom field.
I don't see that option in the workflow creation screen. I am in the process of thinking of other solutions but would like help and advise.

Crystal Fugate - I don't believe there is any way to create a workflow that has conditional logic. The workflow approvals are always or never.
However, we could get close with a request form. Add a yes/no question: is the budget for this project more than $X,XXX. If they pick yes, you can conditionally add an approval:

Crystal, I'd like to mention that you could also achieve this with an automation rule. Please, find below the steps you'd need to follow:
1- Create an account custom workflow with a status that would include an automatic approval. And apply it to the relevant Space/project/folder:
2- Create your number-type custom field ('Dollar amount"?):
3- Create an automation rule that would automatically change the status of your tasks when X number is added to the 'Dollar amount' custom field:
When adding this specific number to the custom field, the status will be automatically changed to the status that triggers the approval.

@... - Yes this is helpful. I was thinking something like this. I would need to make an automation and workflow for different levels of approval, correct? Also, I don't see a comment from Mike, is it posted somewhere else?
Hi Crystal Fugate, thank you for your reply, I'm glad to know this option would be helpful for you. Yes, you'd need to create different automation rules, luckily, you can duplicate them rules and afterward make small adjustments to save time 🙂 You don't need to create different workflows but statuses: every status would have an approval attached.
