Predecessors column doesn't show those based on Permalinks

If I have a task that is dependent on another task from another project, I can set up that dependency using a permalink to that task in the other project.

However after doing this if I view the predecessor column in table view or gantt view, there is no indication there of a dependency.

I suspect this is because its hard to display the full path, but is there some way to get some visual feedback or some indication that there is a dependency there and that we have to view it in the task details?

Hello Chip Linthicum Jr, thank you for sharing your case with this. Would you please elaborate on how are you creating your dependencies? If you could include a screenshot to illustrate this, it would be very helpful for us to better understand it. Thakn you!

The best way to create dependencies is by setting them up on the Gantt chart view. Also, in the New Table View, you can use the "Predecessors" column to specify them:

Please, note that in these cases you wouldn't be using the links of the tasks, but their row number:

Looking forward to your reply 🙂

@..., please note that I specified I'm linked to another task IN ANOTHER PROJECT, therefore I can't just reference "4FS" because the task I need to link to is not the project or view presently on my screen but resides in another project.

So in order to do this I navigate to the source task that I want to link to, I open up the task details and I clock the paperclip icon and get a copy of that task - its 'permalink'.  I then navigate back to the other project.  I then open the downstream task and its details and then click on dependencies and then predecessors and then paste in the permalink.

This works as I can see the new task linked there in the task details view.

However when I view that task in table or gantt view the predecessors column does not show any value there - its misleading (because there really is a link there)

Hi Chip Linthicum Jr, thank you for your reply! The instructions I shared with you work also when the tasks belong to different projects:

However, I have tested the steps you are following and experienced the same behavior. I have opened a ticket with our Support Team so our agents can look into this and check if this is expected behavior. You will be contacted very soon 👍

In the meantime, if you have any additional questions, please let me know 🙂
