Edit Comments
For comments, it would be great if it was an option to allow editing. While some businesses might want a record and therefore don't allow editing after 6 minutes, it would be wonderful if for others it was an option to edit at any time. It clutters everyone's inbox to have to delete a comment and resubmit a comment for minor edits.
Hi Vaishali, thank you for sharing your thoughts here! Do you and your team encounter the need to edit comments often? Also, if this option existed, would you think it'd make sense to have some indication that a comment was edited?
Hi Anastasia,
We use comments as a way to share updates/notes from Client/Internal Meetings and also as a way to view logged time. At least 2 to 3 times a week, a team member will realize that a comment needs to be edited to revise a client's request. It would definitely make sense to indicate that it was edited so that people can see that an update was made. Right now, deleting and reentering the notes for minor changes doesn't seem to make the most sense for our team.
Thanks,
Vaishali
Vaishali, I appreciate the follow-up, thank you for sharing this info!
One of those days were I'm yelling at Wrike!
I work in a Communications department where we need to apply BOLD and ITALICS to the text to SHOW the artist how to handle formatting copy supplied by a client. The lack of this feature is infuriating.
Also I needed to edit a comment to reflect the CORRECT information and I can't. This is also VERY infuriating.
Today was a very bad day working in Wrike. I don't even want I reply. I'm venting. Done and over until next time.
NO. I'm not done. I don't want to see another roll out of any new features until the Comments Feature is IMPROVED.
Hi Micki, I completely understand your need for this feature. Rest assured you've posted your feedback in the right place! Our Product Team constantly review the feedback posted here when discussing developments internally. This particular feature is not currently on their short-term roadmap but we have made our Product Team aware of this thread. Thank you for sharing.
I'd also like to support the need for proper editing options in the comment section, such as using bold or italics. It would help to keep information clean and well organized.

@Stephen O "not currently on the short-term road map?" Adding a feature that aids us in communicating effectively and with accuracy is not in the works is so NOT encouraging.
By making comments fully rich text and editable you are giving your customers maximum flexibility, this is a competitive advantage.
At the core Wrike is a communications and collaboration tool and this enhances both. Limiting comment editing to a 6 minute window based on the delay of sending out email notifications is arbitrary and creates the kind of pointless frustration and workflow silliness pointed out in the previous comments. It creates a unnecessary barrier that impedes having accurate data.
Wrike is a cool tool, this limitation is not in keeping with the companies objectives or your customers needs. 🙂
James - totally agree with your comment. The limitations are frustrating and add delays to workflow
.
Comments are GREAT in document the issues, actions tried, etc.
Can you guys please make it more expressive (bold italic etc) and edit (my current workaround is either to put stuff in the description (which seems like a dumb thing to do) or delete the comment and paste it back in with an edited version (which is not very intuitive)).
@Bryan - I totally agree.
Interesting that the last time a Wrike staff member replied almost a year ago and we have heard nothing since.
We are able to vent and that's about it.
Here's my scenario. I send an email to wrike. If I don't get to it (I assume within 6 minutes) all I see is [Forwarded Message]. I generally like to update that part so a read knows what is inside when they hit the ellipsis. I also agree that we need to be able to edit comments. If this is an auditing issue, you've clearly already got the tech to tracking them in the description field.
Also, the Stream needs a lot of work. I haven't thought about what yet, but it's nearly useless for finding conversations
@all, thanks for your votes and use cases here 👍And sorry for the delay updating you here 😇
I understand the need for editing comments, there have been various times where I needed to edit a comment myself, especially typos or slight mistakes.
The problem I see, and would like to discuss: If a comment can be edited, would you like to be notified when it happens? You could easily check a comment, and from the info there, go ahead and start some work. Then when you come back and see that some details have been changed, it might cause delays. Current, you can delete a comment, but to add more detail another notification is triggered.
For example, our own Community team here comment again for clarity and we never delete comments. Something like this usually happens "Actually to add to my above comment we should do X for Y reason instead" - this way the conversations run logically when looked at retrospectively. I understand this results in another notification, but these comment updates are important so we don't mind so much.
Our product team and I would love to hear your thoughts on the above situations and how it might affect your team, and any workaround or developments you'd suggest.
The team is thinking about how best to approach this but for now, there are no plans to change editing in comments. If there's an update, I will update you here as soon as.
In other news, and related to items posted here, the team have released the ability for Rich Commenting. We'd love to get your thoughts on this on that linked feedback post 🙏
We are currently evaluating Wrike and its suitability as a lead tracking platform within our company and how exactly we would use it. At the moment I see the inability to edit comments as very problematic. I understand some companies may want to disable editing of comments so there is an audit trail of activity but why not make this an Admin level decision for each company? As for notifications this could just be up to the individual user what kind of notifications they want to be made aware of. I hope that you will change this functionality.
I would also like to see editing of comments, teams could maybe enable editing or disable editing on certain projects. Just a thought.
@Stephen It's great that this feature works ideally for your teams. However, the one thing that draws me to Wrike (we've been using it a few years now) is its flexibility. With extremely flexible alternatives hot on your heels I think you need to ensure that Admin level decisions like this are just that i.e. allow the functionality and let the user (Admin only) decide whether they apply it or not. Don't discount it as a feature as it doesn't suit how your team works.
For us, we do not use the comments section as a means to implement instructions; we do that by assigning a new task. We use it purely as a summary for a particular project or task so the team can get an easy overview of who, when, why, what. To this end it would be ideal for us to be able to make an edit where there is a clear but basic mistake or information missed. Some mistakes can be embarrassing if you have a Client as a collaborator. Deleting and re-posting messes up the timeline, so even the ability to manually move comments in a timeline (keeping the posted time there for audit) would make it read better.
If you feel edits need a further notification then so be it, but this could also be an option (notify of edits). However, it may be an idea to highlight an edited comment as such, perhaps a tag saying who edited it and when.
I think this and the missing ability to set reminders to tasks (multiple ones at say 5 days before due date, then 1 day before due date and then 1 hour before for those of us that need reminders) is the only 2 things that make this a good package and not a superb package.
Many thanks for a really good product which certainly makes things much easier for us when managing multiple projects for many Clients.
Bolding and italicized comments has been rolled out for some time now... Any update on the roadmap to being able to edit comments?
Agree. Please take off the limits on editing a comment. It is so much more user-friendly than adding a revised comment or having to delete the comment then repost.
Please remove the time limit on editing comments. At the very least it should be an option. My team and I find this feature extremely inconvenient.
Hey everyone, thanks for all of your feedback. These use cases help our Product team in their discussions about future updates. I'll keep you posted on any updates 😊
Hi there. Thought I would leave some feedback here as I was trying to find resolution for this same issue. In recent months I switched from using Jira to Wrike and found out I cannot edit comments anymore as this feature does not really exist in Wrike. I used to be able to always edit my comments anytime in Jira which overall helped the flow of things run smoothly. If I made edits, people on the project would get a notification if any edits were made. This was very useful as I use the comments section as a place to keep track of updates to my managers and teammates on current tasks. Recently I made the mistake on putting in the wrong date in Wrike and am unable to go back and fix that. Not sure if this will be revisited, but I hope that this will be something that will get added in a later release as it would be very helpful since I use Wrike everyday. <3
Welcome to the forums Joslyn Schmitt 👋 Thanks so much for sharing detailed feedback on editing comments! I'm checking with the team now, and I'll let you know here if I have an update from them 👍

Joslyn Schmitt - This inability to edit comments continues to be frustrating for me. I use the description area to capture details and update information, only problem there is no one is sent an update. So if you want your team to know the changes, using the comments to alert them to the change is still the only way I know of to communicate.
Wrike Team - It is sad that this has been discussed for over 3 1/2 years and there have been no strides to provide what we are requesting.
Hi folks,
I wanted to share a quick update here to let you know that this request is not currently planned.
I know that this will be disappointing to hear, but please be assured that we will continue to pass on your feedback in relation to this request to our Product team, and if anything changes we'll be sure to let you know.
Micki Mensio - Our Product team reviews Community suggestions and their popularity to help determine what to work on next. You can read more about this process here. Although we'd love to be able to implement all user suggestions, unfortunately, this isn't possible, so our team references all available data related to Product feedback to help them plan future updates. So, for now, this suggestion is not planned, but if that changes at some stage we'll be sure to update you here.
If there's anything else we can help with, don't hesitate to ask 👍

In one of the prior comments Wrike asked us to answer this ?: If a comment can be edited, how would you like the project team / designer to be notified when it happens? Designers could easily check a comment, and from the info there, go ahead and start some work. Then when you come back and see that some details have been changed, it might cause delays. Currently, you can delete a comment, but to add more detail another notification is triggered.
I receive the following from my users: The exact same thing could be said about deleting a comment too. i think for the most part we only edit/change our comment while in the review mode of that task. i don't see people going in later to edit comments. i also don't see that many designers following along with our comments in real time. A few do on quick turns or jobs with big jobs. but that is not the norm.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts here Jackie Davis! I don't currently have an update from the Product team about this suggestion, but that's what I've been thinking too - about delays and potentially lost information if such functionality was introduced.

I can't believe that people have been asking (some are pleading) for this basic feature for 6 years now and you guys refuse to add it in? WOW.
How many times have I needed to edit a comment because I made a mistake and I can't edit it.
I don't get bold in comments either, but that's not nearly as important to me as editing
In the description if I edit it, they get an email & so do I, so I don't understand what the problem is with editing comments. Was the code not done properly so you can change it to allow editing?
Hi Michelle K., thank you for posting your detailed feedback here!
Please let me share some detail on how this Product Feedback forum works. We have a voting system here where any Wrike user can upvote a suggestion when visiting the Community. There are other ways to let us know your feedback, and the Community is one of them. We have a process for reporting all suggestions, feedback, and votes from this forum to our Product team, and they continuously review all of this data.
Once any suggestion reaches the 60 votes threshold, we add a Product status to it. You can check out more info on that and on the list of statuses in this post.
Our team can't commit to working on all or even most of the suggestions in this forum, but at the same time, feedback from this channel is still important to them. As an example, here's the list of Community-generated suggestions that the team has released last year.
I hope this info is useful; please let me know if you have any questions!
