[Status: Backburner ⏳] View latest Project comment in Table view

Is there a way to view the latest Project comment as a column in Table View?  I'd like to have people make updates to the overall project status and have it show up in the Table View

Hi Michael! There's no way to view comments on the Table View, but I'm moving this post to our Product Feedback section so anyone else who might have the same request can +1 it.

I would love to hear details around why you would like comments on that view. Does your team work primarily out of the Table View?

Hi Stephanie!  Our boss likes to review projects at a high level and not get stuck in the details of individual tasks making up a project.  I can add comments to projects now, but they don't "bubble up" to the Table view (or anywhere for that matter) so all the latest comments can be shown on a project by project basis.  We also need the history of Project status updates to be kept, so we can see the progress over time.  We can easily create a custom column in Table View called, "Latest Update" but we would overwrite it every week with no history kept.

Hi Michael, that helps a lot thank you for explaining! You read my mind, I was going to suggest Custom Fields, but they don't work if you need to track history over time. Would you just need to see that/when a change was made or do you also need to see the previous values from the Custom Field?

I think we'd like to see the previous values, which is why I was thinking of entering updates in the Project comments field, and the latest comment showing up in the custom field in the table view.  Do you think this is do-able?

Thank you that definitely makes sense now! I just wanted to make sure that I fully understood how you envisioned it working so that we could pass the request correctly to the product team. I've heard a request similar to this before, but related to the description field. Thank you for explaining :)

Hi, this is something that I was trying to solve as well, if a project is closed or put on hold, what is the reason, which should be the last comment, and it would be great to see at a glance all such projects.  Really hope this could get some traction, a lot of other PM tools allow you to update projects with comments/convos that get distributed out to the teams.  In Wrike currently, you have to manually add a comment when updating, and it doesn't show in the activity stream as necessarily linked to each other, ie when the status is changed, you can't be sure the comment is about that change.

@Donnie The Community team adds status to a post when it reaches 60 upvotes. I still pass all the feedback for consideration though, but no updates for this particular thread at the moment. It would be great if more Community members upvoted this suggestion, this helps the team assess its popularity 🙂

@Al Thank you for adding your thoughts to this thread 🙌

It would definitely be helpful to see comments in their own view so we don't have to click on each task in order to read the comments. is there a way to filter so it shows the comments of each task without having to open each task? or at least a filter to only show those with comments?

Hey nichole cook, welcome to the Community!

There is currently no way to see comments without opening the task, or filtering based on whether there are comments or not available for the task. A possible workaround for this would be to add a checkbox custom field to your projects and check it when there are comments in the task. You'll be able to filter based on whether or not this box is checked or not, showing only the tasks that have comments in them.

Thank you for the feedback. If you have any other questions, be sure to let me know.

I would definitely like to see the ability to show last comment in table view. I manage vendors and need to track which team members from the vendor is working a task and because the team members get mobilized frequently to complete projects, being able to update/view last comment from table view would help immensely. Not too helpful with how it currently requires me to open up each task to view and update.

In trying to wean colleagues off Excel/Google Sheets, the ability to see Comments in Table View would be very useful.

As an earlier contributor, Mike Delemos,  said, senior management just want to see high level view so the ability to see the most recent Comment update in Table View (or anywhere similar) would be a valuable aid in winning endorsement of the platform.

Adding my voice to this issue: I can't get rid of excel sheets without being able to show the last comment (or two) in a table view or report. It's a simple way to summarize a series of complex issues and actions into a one page form.

I believe this enhancement would be a huge timesaver for those who read out updates at an executive level.  Currently, our team created a custom field for Project Notes that is updated in the Tableview (from reviewing the comments add/summarize the notes entered at the Project Level of the List view) and then presents from the Report View.  I would suggest that the latest notes be an option to be viewed/presented from the Report view.

@... This has been an issue for as long as I've worked for GSI, and it is rearing it's dragon head again with our management team.  Being able to report on the last comment or last update to the description field at the project level would be an absolute game changer for how Wrike is adopted by our organization.  There is resistance to adoption within our organization because the custom status of a project is still not enough information for our weekly reports, but they don't have time to drill down into each project to see the last issue.  Thanks for the consideration on this!

Echoing the feedback from the larger thread over the last 4 years. Having the latest comment show up in table view would be a massively helpful feature. I see that Wrike mods have been "Passing it on to the product team" for 4 years now. What needs to happen to get this added to their development queue?

Hi Jami Mcgraw, welcome to the Community and thank you for posting.

Please allow me to share a little detail on how we process Product Feedback. We receive many great ideas on Community, and we pass on all feedback to our Product team. If you'd like to find out more, this article explains what happens after we receive Product feedback.

We check with our team and assign a status after a thread receives more than 60 upvotes according to our Product Feedback Guidelines & Statuses. This suggestion at the moment needs more support. The team can't implement all suggestions here, but they do keep them on their radar. The number of upvotes and feedback here help them understand how popular the suggestion is among the Community members.

In the meantime, if there are any updates in relation to this suggestion, we'll be sure to update you here. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Voting for this too, the "ability to see the most recent Comment update in Table View (or anywhere similar)".

We've now had to add a custom field for project comments to track the latest meeting decision.  We use this because we need quick access to viewing the comments during our weekly meetings, and the table view is the best way to see all relevant data.  Unfortunately, this now means that we have to "active" comment fields to review.  We really need the ability to see the latest comment in a project or task (project is our priority at this time, though).

Hopping in here as well with the hope that this feature request will receive some traction. We too have had to resort to Trevor Tollefsbol's method to bring the latest comment to the table view. Unfortunately, this creates more work and also introduces potential for mistakes if someone forgets to update one or the other (the active comments).

I am pretty desperate to get this feature added, as well. Both for table view and as a selectable column in Table layout of a report

Hey everyone, according to Lisa's post above, we need 60 upvotes for this to get escalated. We're currently at 51, we just need 9 more.
