Looking for a way to estimate time

Our team is looking for a way to enter a time estimate on tasks and then view estimated time for specific team members based on what they've estimated and entered. This will help us view how much time specific tasks are estimated to take.

Hi Mary, welcome to the Community! That's a great question, and this can be done by using Custom Fields together with Time Tracking. Here's how:

  1. Create a duration-type Custom Field on the Project/Folder level to enter (or have other users fill in) the estimated time for a certain task.
  2. Ask team members to use the Time Tracking feature to record the actual time they spend on these tasks.
  3. In either Table View or Reports, enable the "Time Spent" column from the gear icon menu (top left corner of the table):

Use Filters to narrow down the list and view tasks assigned to certain users (both in Table View and Reports). Let me know if you have any other questions about this, happy to help! :)

Thanks for your answer, I am actually after the same option.

Is the TABLE view the only mode we can see the Time estimate (customized field) in a Task? It would be great to have it visible in the same area as

in the Projects (see attached images).

Hi Alex, thanks for commenting here! Based on the size the Task View has been adjusted to, the Custom Fields may sometimes be collapsed, and can easily be expanded so they're visible in the same tab as in the Project info:

For Custom Field to be visible on the task level, they should be enabled for all types of data (Folder, Projects, and Tasks). You can check and edit these settings in Table View, here's how:

Based on the estimated time entered, is there a way to see the time remaining after the work that has been timed & posted for that task or project ?

Hi Katelyn! Yes, you can definitely see this info in the Workload :) Just enable Effort Allocation in Wrike Labs, enter this information for your tasks, and then switch to the Workload to check whether any team members are overbooked, and if any tasks need to be reassigned or rescheduled. Just curious, is there a way for that aggregation to occur at the parent root level? For example say I have task A with subtasks S1 and S2.

I've assigned a Custom Field called Time Estimate, time.

If I roll up the sub-tasks S1 and S2 in the Table view, I have no idea about time on task A. It would be helpful to know what A sums to. In particular, more helpful for those scheduling that are not ... umm .. math inclined. But also, if you have alot of items, for space conservation, it is beneficial to see the sum on task level as well.

The screenshot below shows that the total time can be summed up in the parent Folder. Is this what you're looking to see?
