Receive a notification when a task is scheduled to start

Does anyone know if there is a way to be notified when a task you are assigned to is scheduled to begin? You can set the start date for the future, but I need to remember to do it. For example, when an employee leaves we change the password to their email account but leave it active for a certain amount of time so clients can receive their OOO reply and then months later we delete the account entirely. I have a task scheduled for deleting their account six months from now but the task isn't helpful if I don't remember it's there.

The only thing I can think to do is create a dashboard, but that is something I have to actively check as opposed to receiving a notification from WrikeBot "Your task is scheduled to begin!" or something. I looked through the boards and have seen a lot of requests for notifications, but I haven't seen any answers. Does anyone know if this is a thing or have any ideas for workarounds? Maybe automation? I know a dependency will let you know when a prior task is completed, but sometimes I am scheduling a task that needs be completed in the future which does not have predecessors.

Hi Maya Manning, welcome to the Community! 🤗

You're correct in saying that automated reminders for tasks is a popular topic here on the Community, but this isn't something that our team is planning to work on in the near future due to other priorities and the complexity of this ask. At the same time, I'd still like to share some general advice on managing your workload and staying on top of your tasks. First of all, it's a good practice to set up dashboard widgets for tasks assigned to you and start your day or week by taking a look at those. Also, you can make it a practice to check out your to-do list regularly. In regards to Wrike's Automation, you mention the notifications that can be set up for tasks in dependency chains, but it's also possible to set up a trigger to notify you that a certain task's status hasn't been changed in a certain amount of days. This can be used for the most important tasks:

Please let me know if that helps, I'm happy to discuss 👍

Hi! Has there been any updates on this idea? We are new to the platform and I found that this is the one thing that would be so helpful - reminding me of the projects and tasks I should start today or tomorrow. I often find myself falling behind because I'm working off of the due date, even though when I create the tasks and subtasks, I put a timeframe on when I will be working on it. We have dashboards set up, I do my best to check all of our spaces where we have tasks saved, and the to-do tab does not show when you should start the project and it doesn't even allow you to see a calendar (unless our company just doesn't have the version that allows that).

Hi Jasmine Brown, welcome to the Community! You can create reminders using automation rules. For example, you can create a rule that will be triggered if the status of the task is not updated in X days, which will result in mentioning the task assignees:

Also, you can trigger a mention when the due date of the task is approaching:

Could these options be of help to you?
