can I NOT assign a task from an email?
We currently send some emails out to clients and then CC the Wrike task in the email so we have a copy of communications. But - this is now assigning the client to the task automatically since we're sending to them and then CC the task. Is there a way to turn off this option? We don't want them assigned, just are wanting to keep track of emails.
Hi Jennifer, by using the integration if the client is in the 'To' section they'll be assigned. How about adding the client as a CC and include wrike@wrike.com in the 'To' section. this will assign the sender to the task instead.
Give it a go, or test and let me know if this works better 👍
I had the same thought, but it's totally unreasonable to ask Wrike users to break convention and to train all their email recipients to do the same.
I agree with Jason. Our team has a very particular way/timing they would like to be assigned to tasks, and with the tool automatically assigning whoever is on the email chain it adds so many headaches. We cannot have our entire team change the way they email in order to prevent this from happening, but conversely, this makes it such a tedious activity for my team to manually go through and unassign with each email sent or risk forgetting and getting flack from the team.
Is this an issue you plan to address in 2023?
Hi Emily Nicoletta, not at the moment, but thank you for adding your feedback here.
I'd suggest creating a new post in the Product feedback forum on this to see if other users would also benefit from this. Are you happy to create this? You can read more about how we work with Product feedback in this post. If you need anything else don't hesitate to ask.

This makes emailing Wrike unusable. In my company people receiving emails likely aren't using Wrike and should NOT be assigned to MY work tracker. How is this default? It needs to be an optional feature.
Hi @... - I put the wrike item email address in the BBC field (alone) and it still assigned the people I wrote the email to. If I do wrike@wrike.com how does it know which task to send it to?
Hi, was this addressed? Or anything added to the product backlog? We have a number of users that prefer to respond via email instead of directly in Wrike. Replying all is assigning the task to recipients so now we have to regularly go back in and unassign. Is there an option to simply turn this off? We have no desire to create or assign tasks by sending email to Wrike at all, just comments.
Hi Nathan Jones, thank you for your comment. At the moment, it is not possible to turn off this option, the alternative is to put wrike@wrike.com in the BCC field as the only recipient. However, I understand why this option might not be ideal for you and your team.
May I please ask you to create a new post in the Product feedback forum suggesting this idea? This way, other users will be able to upvote it and show our Product Team the interest behind it 👍
Thank you!
