[Status: Launched ๐] Add subtasks to the Board View
Right now only parent tasks are visible in the Board View. It would be really great if we could see all theย subtasksย too. Probably a new advanced filter would do the trick, so that a user could switch between displaying onlyย up levelย tasks or all tasks includingย subtasks. It willย definitelyย help in managing complicatedย goals.
It would be good for showing subtasks on boards as an option and default setting.ย
That way we could show or hide them the same way we show/hide subfolders.
Thanks!
Please! I use a custom board for Scrum but I have to click into Summary tasks to see the sub tasks.ย Ick. I want to see the subtasks and move them between status same as parent/individual tasks.ย
Maybe it can be work like the TFS.
The backlogged task can be one row and the subtask can be the tasks on the board. Each second row can have alternative background. It's help a lot to manage subtask between backlogs (the parent task) and the subtasks can use like a simple task.
What would also be good is when you click a parent task on a board it opens up another board with the sub tasks in. ย Only being able to see parent tasks on a board makes the boards un-usable for us especially when in some cases we have multiple sub-tasks of sub-tasks.
Thanks
I agree, this would be a huge help.
ย
I'm currently doing a project with a few parents tasks, and a lot of subtasks, and the board is practicaly empty.
Agreed! It's a major annoyance with the board view for me. Obviously you can create a bunch of tasks as separate cards and then link them as subtasks, but its time consuming and unnatural.ย
yes ! we need better see sub-tasks : now sub-tasks with urgent dead line are displayed at the bottom of board view because of their link to less urgent parent task. Thanks !
This would be such a nice change.ย The way my organization uses Wrike renders sub-tasks basically useless. A away around it is to use Folders as headers, though this isn't as visually appealing and doesn't provide the same functionality when it comes to completion%
ย
A response from Wrike would be much appreciated.
New user... and just discovering that you really need to make everything a task to use the board as we need for our software projects
ย
ย
New to wrike. Shocked to learn that sub-tasks don't appear on the Board. Need this feature.
Completely agree. This is an essential feature when going from planning (gantt) to executing (board)
This may actually be a deal breaker for our project. When will this feature be implemented?ย
Hi all, we appreciate this valuable feedback and the use-cases help the discussions among out Product Team when reviewing this feature. Once I have an update from the team, I'll be sure to update you here. For now, please keep voting for the original post here and comment so we better understand the popularity of this request ๐ Once the suggestion hits 60 votes, we'll add one of the Product Feedback statuses to it.

Original Post hit 60 votes. Please add a Product Feedback status so user's know if this feature will be implemented or not. Thanks!
This is a very basic need for software developers.ย Software features are divided into sub tasks and hours to complete are estimated.ย Frequently several developers are working on a feature.ย Having sub tasks on the board is a basic need.ย My team is working around by making everything a task which isn't terribly efficient.ย ย
I am sure its well beyond 60 votes.ย Its only been two years we have been complaining about this.ย When can it be fixed ?
ย
ย
Hi everyone, thank you so much for your continued support here!
I've added the 'Investigating ๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ' status to this suggestion, which means that the Product team is looking at its feasibility, possible effects on other features, and the time it may take to complete.ย The team hasn't officially decided to take on a request and noย time frame is available at this stage.ย
I will let you know how the research is going, and thank you again for the votesย ๐

This is great news and would be a great feature addition to Wrike!
Table View added. Can we get an update on Subtasks displaying on the Board View?
ย
Thanks.
Hey everyone, no new info on the request for now, but I wanted to share a workaround that can help.
When a subtask is created, it is automatically attached to its parent task. By default, subtasks live in a task, so they are not added directly into their parentโs folder or project. Subtasks have โghostโ tags thatย look like faded out Folder/Project tags. ย A ghost tag is there to provide information: it tells you which Folders/Projects the parent tasks lives in. If the subtask has multiple parent tasks, then it has a ghost tag for each Folder/Project that the parent tasks are in. You can convert โghostโ tags into regular tags. When you do this, the subtask is added directly into a certain Folder or Project (so it lives there as well as in its parent task). This allows you to view subtasks under their respective Folders and Project and lets you see subtasks on the Board View.ย
To convert a ghost tag into a Folder tag:
The ghost tag is not grayed out anymore, which means that it has been converted into a regular tag.
I know it's not an ideal solution, but I hope it helps someone ๐

@Lisa, thanks for the explanation I was planning on using subtasks this way in fact.ย I am new to Wrike and my team, which builds and manages websites we own, is going to use tasks for "features" that will frequently be webpages on our sites, or groups of pages, and subtasks for the work around those.ย So for example the task "search results page" will actually represent the "feature" that is that page on a given of our sites.ย We'll then have subtasks representing the work around building the site.ย The task that is the feature will actually live and not be archived to show the existence of the page.ย We plan to in fact paste in an image of the most recent view of the site, although I'd much prefer a live link to say Figma or Invision so we could keep this updated without manual work, hint hint project team!
If we want to add a new piece to this webpage later, we will add in some new subtasks and move the status of the page, which will be "live" in our custom statuses, back to "In update."ย We'll add in some subtasks for the new work, then pull those subtasks into a new Project which will roughly equate to a Sprint to build that work.ย On the Sprint Project's boards I'll have these subtasks visible.ย So thankfully this workaround is completely fine for us now, in fact not even a workaround I'd say, but a nice use of subtasks you already have available!
I will add as a point of general commentary that Wrike's massive ability to organize all elements, including subtasks, which don't really "live" in the parent, was a huge selling point for us.ย In fact this has let us use Tasks/Subtasks for a great set-up to run meetings which I hopefully coherently described here:

Thanks guys!
I have to dig up this topic two month later. I am not sure if I remember right but i thougt there was a time when you were able to expand the subtasks from a regular task in board view. we really need this functionality back, to benefit from an overall view.ย
can you help me remember?
"My Work" sunsetted to "My to-do" (and by sunsetted they mean moved.) Can we get an update on Subtasks displaying on the Board View?
ย
Thanks.
Yes please we need this.
Hi everyone! The investigation continues here, hopefully, I'll be able to provide more details in Q1 2020. This is definitely something that the team is interested in!ย
Thanks for your support ๐

Jay Fortnerย Hey great point.ย I am also I have to say getting a bit jaded about the choice of the product team.ย This is another huge one that seems to be ignored.ย Lisaย it's nice to get your periodic updates, but I can't recall the last time you or another of your colleagues wrote in here in the community with actual news on a specific release of an idea with a lot of requests.ย The "my work" as Jay states was nowhere to be seen in the community, so it begs the question, who asked for it?ย If you guys have a rule that you need 60 votes in the community to get something moved along - which in and of itself is I think a bad system as I doubt most users of Wrike are even aware of these ideas, and consequently can't vote - then you should at least be transparent about who is asking for what you do release!
ClickUp is iterating at breakneck speed compared to you guys, transparent about their roadmap, and actually adding most of the features you guys are ignoring on this board, like move a task to a project, show subtask on board, ability to @mention tasks with the "/" command, and so on.ย Even Jira has a nice, new, clear roadmap that they are following, granted slowly, and I always thought Atlassian was one of the bigger dinosaurs out there when it came to releasing new stuff.ย ย
Thanks and hope you guys will take stock in all the dissatisfaction in most of the comments in here nowadays and adjust how you prioritize feature release.ย You have a great, basic product, but you are missing essential features that should have been included years ago, and you need to get moving on adding them, or you'll lose users. I for one am borderline moving on to something else, for now....
We are so eager to see this feature in Q1 2020, but not seeing subtasks on boards basically defeats our use of Wrike as a true Agile / Board view. Would love love love this feature soon!
Yes Please!!
What a shame. The work around is poor and I've wasted 2 hours trying to get subtasks in any view.
Major flaw in solution so I'm looking for another product now. Any suggestions?
ย
All setup and working with Clickup.

Brilliant ๐
