Parent/Child Tasks
I'm reaching out to this community to see if anyone has a solution for my use case. We use Wrike as an intake tool for partners to submit internal communication requests. Our production process routes requests to different team members to deploy each communication channel selected. But since a single task is created when a request is submitted, we have to manually duplicate the task for each communication channel selected.
Is there an Wrike solution that will allow us to separate a single parent task into multiple child tasks based on the communication channels selected? Has anyone else run across that use case?
Hi Charlie Vincent I see two possibilities ( I think you are meaning using request forms in Wrike):
1. use a blueprint with enough tasks (you can make in the request form to make a project from blueprint
2. use the new request form feature of conditional behaviour. See the screenshot. It gives possibilitie to make a subtask if a checkbox is selected.
I can't seem to find an answer but I'm looking at how you can tag just a Parent task and not its children - I need to do this as I am bringing together a list of tasks in a separate area but don't want/need the child tasks - and I don't want to be to see or interact with them from this location
Hey Jason, I think your use case is a little different than mine. I want custom field values in a request form to be populated into a sub-task. This Community post explains my use case more accurately: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360052881513-Data-from-Request-Form-on-Subtasks.
It seems there's no way to pass custom field values from a request form down to a sub-task. It all populates into the parent task. Which is why we currently have to manually duplicate tasks to copy everything over. Very frustrating.
