[Status: Launched ๐] Project Status enhancements
We are looking into expanding our implementation of Wrike to allow us to plan build roadmaps for future projects.ย With this in mind it would be helpful to have a planning/planned status added to the current set of project statuses.ย
Are you aware of the Custom Workflow feature? You can create as many different statuses for tasks as you want, so you're not just limited to Active, Complete, Cancelled, etc

I am familiar with custom workflows unfortunately they cannot be applied to projects so those do not meet our needs. In theory we could put the project in as a task with a custom workflow but that is not an ideal situation.
Hi everyone! @Luke thanks for sharing the tip! @Jeremiah, I know this isn't a perfect match, but something else I wanted to suggest is adding a Custom Field (a dropdown one, for example) with status values? Happy to hear your thoughts on this!
Also looking for this feature. We have a pretty thorough workflow for whole Projects that we need to track on our team [New, Scheduled, In Progress, To Review, To Present, Complete, etc...]
Not having the ability to set workflows to the Project makes it challenging to track the overall progress on each of the many projects we have going on at one time.
Also, it would be great if the board view could switch between viewing tasks and projects. That way if you have a folder with a number of projects inside of it you can switch from seeing all the tasks for the projects in the board view to seeing where each project is at in the workflow board.
Any chance something like this is in the pipeline?

Thanks @Stephanie - added a note there. Is there any update you can share regarding creating custom status options for projects? The current set of 6 statuses is super limiting to our team when it comes to tracking where each of our projects are at in our process.

Also looking forward to this feature, currently searching for a better way to generate a neat weekly report for all the company project and the ability to modify the project status would be great.ย
@Anastasia the custom field is what we impleneted - a field called project phase with the categories of [Backlog, Conception/Initiation, Planning, Execution, Closeout]

I was able to create a custom status for projects. However, in theย LIST view, the default status is still there - so now there are two statuses. The one I created and the default that comes along with Wrike. Is there a way to delete the default status?

We really need this feature to categorize and manage the large number of projects we generate. Adding a new custom fieldย appears to be the defaultย work-around for missing Wrike features.
Agreed.ย On the trial version of Wrike and the inability to customise the status in projects seems to negate the whole point of having custom workflows and is a major sticking point. We would like the ability to work from the top line in update meetings, but need to be way more granular when defining the status of each product.ย We have created custom fields, but this lacks the immediate visual impact as we are unable to colour code the fields. Plus it seems counterintuitive to create a second status column only to then have to hide inbuilt feature column.
Agreed! I am also looking for this feature. I need a more in depth understanding of what stage our projects are at rather than if it is in progress/completed etc. +1 to have custom project status'

I also agree that the project status needs to be customisable. I want to be able to define what stage of design/manufacture each given order is in. (e.g. In review, pending design, in design, pending production, in production, etc.). I think I will end up adding a separate 'task' to each project folder and then using a custom workflow to set the status of the project as a whole. This way I can use the board view to see all projects and their statuses.ย
YES! Please add custom statuses as a new feature soon. This would be a huge help to us; itโs really frustrating that the custom workflows so clearly think through this need but canโt be applied to projects.
I would love to get custom workflow status' added to Projects! Projects can be given status colours (Green, Yellow, Red) but it seems like wasted potential not being able to give the custom statuses to Projects.
Please develop this, it would be a fantastic feature!!ย (example - giving a whole project over from Design to Approvals team, rather than just a section of it)

As a visual tool the project status coloring is very important but the default wording is worthless, what is green/red/yellow it would almost be better to just have the color with no words.ย Reporting is already limited in wrike as fields can not have conditional formatting applied to direct the attention of the reader - please fix this soon and allow the status wording to be customized.

We also agree with Claire regarding the formatting. We'd like to customise the options and change their colours too - visually, the 'Green' and 'Completed' status are too similar and at our company, we commonly use purple to indicate that something is complete.
I think there was mention of a 'Planned/Proposed' status above too by someone, which we would definitely make use of too!
Why can we not be able to apply custom workflows at the project level as well as the task level? This could replace the current status that is so limited. For example, for us projects have high level status labels based on where they are in a sales cycle (lead, proposal, contract pending, etc) and also once underway (Design Phase, Fabrication, Site Installation, etc.).ย

I completely agree with the previous comments. I am currentlyย contemplating the purchase of Wrike as the PM tool for my organization, but the lack of custom workflows and status at the project level is an impediment to much of
what I am wanting our PMO to be able to do.

'd like to change the main status in my projects from the standard (Green, Complete, on-hold, etc.) to something more specific. Does my Account Manager need to create a separate workflow for this? I understand I can add another column and then provide any status I want but it would be cumbersome to have two status fields
I highly recommend having this feature as it will be easier to track each project stage and progressย
