Editing pre-loaded Word documents when filling out request forms

As a future update to the Wrike software, would it be possible to allow collaborators and users filling out request forms to be capable of editing pre-loaded Word documents if they have downloaded the Wrike Document Editor?

About 40% of the requests provided to me include detailed, edited content and it would be easier for people to be able to fill out edits as they are putting together the request form.

If this is not something you're willing to add to the Wrike platform, would it be possible to at least pre-load an attachment to the project based upon their dropdown selections, provide a snapshot of what they have selected, and/or have the capability to download it, fill it out manually, and provide their edits as a new attachment?

I would be happy to provide further clarification if needed.

Hi Cameron, I really like this idea and I think it would be useful for a lot of teams, so thanks for sharing!

I've been thinking of a few options you could use as a solution for now and I believe the below would be the best approach.

Firstly, you'll need to use an integrated cloud storage like Google Drive or Dropbox for this solution. Once you've saved your documents there you'll have a URL link to the document that you can share. You can then paste this link in your Request form, depending on the option/answer a customer selects. See the below example I've used for three different document links using a dropdown option.

As the person is filling out the Request form, they will see the URL link to the document and also that they'll need to edit something there once they complete submit the Request form. You'll be able to customise this message in the context of the specific Requests.

Once the requester submits the form, they'll be brought to the task where the link to the document will be available to copy and paste and they can go ahead and begin editing.

If it's an external request (i.e. from a non-Wrike user) they'll see the same link in the Request form confirmation email they receive and they can copy and paste the URL into their browser and begin editing the document.

It's not exactly what you've requested but I think it would be a helpful solution for now.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this 🙂

I don't really think this solves the issue, unless someone creates a separate file for editing inside the cloud storage. Otherwise wouldn't everyone be editing the same form? I was going to ask this same question. I wanted to make a form I could print and control that could be filled out when entering request form information. I don't see how that couldn't be possible as you can already copy and paste projects. It would make things much easier to either upload the form that needs editing to the request form or when a request form is filled out, it can be printed/saved/edited outside of wrike.

Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your input here! You're totally right, my workaround doesn't do exactly what was suggested though I'm hoping it might be a helpful solution for some cases.

I think having a document you can edit form at the point of filling out the Request form is a great idea and it'll be reported to our Product Team for review so make sure you upvote the OP so our Product Team understand how popular the Feedback suggestion is. Thank you! 🙂
