More colours for the custom workflows

Are there any plans to add more colours to the custom workflows? I find that they are quite limited and lots of shades of green, blue etc! This makes it hard to differentiate between items within the Workload view. The violet and dark purple are very similar but we currently use these for very different statuses.

It would be more beneficial to have a bigger spread of colours as they're very similar in the Workload view and some colours we also have to use for multiple purposes (as there aren't enough!) which is confusing.

There is only one red - could there be more colours at that end of the spectrum, multiple shades of red, orange, yellow, pink perhaps? Also a black would be very handy! Just need more in general for my workflows.

Many thanks.

Hi Helen, sorry for the delay getting back. I was looking into this for you. Our Product Team is interested in learning more about the kind of colors you would be looking for here. It's not something on their roadmap but it's something they may look to in the future.

If there were specific colors you'd like to see and how/where they would be used, please post about it here so our team can refer to the post going forward.

For anyone wanting a similar enhancement, please feel free to add more detail by commenting too

Any updates to the roadmap in relation to this, I'll be sure to post back here. Thanks for bumping the post 👍

I'm with Helen!

Moreover, it would be great if at least some of the colours available in the workflows matched the default "status" colours at the project level. We are trying to be clear and consistent with our clients by matching the project level statuses to the workflow ones (where appropriate) and right now the table view looks like a pizza :(

Gosia, the pizza comment actually made me laugh, great comparison. Thanks for that 😁

Our Product Team have been aware of this post. Thanks for your votes and input here, I'll be back with an update if and when I have one 👍

I second this! We're struggling because we really need to add more statuses, but the team gets confused quickly when different statuses have the same colors. We're trying to figure out a workaround for this, but it would be awesome if we just had more colors to work with. (Especially because, as others have mentioned, the current color options are so similar to each other.)

@Nicole Hi! Do you end up having to use the same color multiple times within the same Workflow or is the issue more around having to use the same color in multiple workflows?

If it's within the same workflow, it would be really helpful to see what your statuses are. I'm trying to think of potential workarounds and naming conventions might be an option, but it depends on what you need :)

@Stephanie The issue is really for statuses within the same workflow. We don't frequently have multiple workflows in use at the same time. Our actual statuses probably won't make sense without knowing our processes, but here's a general description of how we're using it.

At the beginning of a project, every task in the project has a status that reflects what team is responsible for that task. We have five different statuses for that since we have five different teams. We then have the In Progress status, which is a pretty critical part of our process. We then have two statuses for "questions" - one status for use if the task is stuck until the project manager can address a question or issue, and a second status for use if the task is stuck until another team or team member can address a question or issue. We have another status for use if the task is waiting on the resolution of a technology ticket. Finally, we do also use the Canceled status, albeit rarely and in a bit of an unusual way. Our goal here is to make it easier to tell from timeline view what things are moving smoothly and what things are stuck, and where the stuck items are stuck so we know how to follow up.

Another obstacle we're working around is the dependencies. Currently, there is no way for a user to tell that a task is ready for them unless they use timeline view (which is far too overwhelming for most of the team) or view the mini timeline view available by clicking the Dependencies icon in the task itself. They have to manually check the dependencies for every task and the only way they can really tell if the task is ready for them it by checking to see if the preceding tasks are green. This is by far the most problematic part of Wrike for us, but that's an issue for another post. :) What IS relevant to this post is the fact that these circumstances put us in a position where we can't use statuses that are closer in color to the complete status - we do not use the other shade of green, and we've run into issues trying to use teal. We really need to change that one to something else, but we don't have another color that will really work for that.

I hope that's helpful!

Has there been any updates to adding more color to workflows?

My team is very visual and an expanded color coding would be very helpful.

I wanted to follow up on this as well; having more colors would be beneficial when we're trying to keep track of statuses at a glance, especially when a number of them are similarly dark (green, brown, purple, dark blue), and only shown as a small font (Dashboards) or small square (Table view).

Currently Wrike offers 13 color options for statuses. In comparison, Word has been offering 60 of them at one click since the 1990s. Yes, number of them are different shades of the same color, but I think we can figure out of those will work or not for us ;)

Thanks,

I would like more colors just for the sake of being able to color things. I work with Gantt charts and I just want to be able to color things for easy, at-a-glance color-coding. No big deal, I just need more colors.

One more upvote for additional colors available for workflows.

We can use only one half of the actual colors, because they are very similar.

Any update available on this?

Thanks

Hey Demis Biscaro, thank you for supporting this idea. We don't have an update for more colours for workflows at the moment, except for the fact that we're bringing back the red colour soon.
