[Status: Launched ๐] Leads and Lags with Dependencies
How does one add a lead or a lag to a dependency.
For instance, I have a SS dependency between taskย 1 (painting the cabinets) and taskย 2 (sealing the cabinets).ย Taskย 2 can start when taskย 1 starts, but two hours must elapse from the time the first cabinet is painted until the sealer can be applied (I have two people working, so it's not necessary to complete the painting of the cabinets before the sealer can start going on the ones that are dry).
Soย for taskย 2 itย would look something like this for the dependency: 1SS+2h
How is this done in Wrike??
+5 (for all my team)
Desperately need lead and lag times! One of the things that convinced us to join is that we so you are working on it. please don't let us down.
Is there any update on when we can expect to see lag and lead time capability? We're currently creating dummy tasks to get round this and that's not ideal...
Same question as raised by others. Perhaps you could share your timeline to implement lead/lag via your Wrike plan? ๐
Another vote to have this created!ย For us, we would like to be able to set a start date and then have another task dependent on that start date, but the next task doesn't actually started for 30 days out.ย Second, if we change the date of one tasks, all of it's dependents would have their dates automatically adjusted.ย We switched from Daptiv to Wrike because of a lot of reasons, but this is one feature that is GREATLY missed from Daptiv.ย Thanks for your continued effort to get this feature added. ๐
Leads and Lags are important in any scheduling software. I Add my vote for this feature
@Stephan Orowe: its been aboutย 6 weeks now, any updates?ย
@all, it'sย difficult at this stageย to promise dates or a Timeline. All I can say is that we're close, we're estimatingย to release in the coming weeks, rather than months. I'll keep you updated as much as possible as itย goes through the release process internally ๐
Hi Stephen, I am an other keen supporter for this function to be available.ย Good luck with the final release!
ย
Just want to add my vote towards Wrike adding the ability to include lag and lead time in the project plan. I understand that you can import these from MS project, but you can't edit them. Additionally, the point of adopting Wrike is to live and work in there completely.ย
Write Developers - please consider adding this functionality soon!ย
Cheers! ๐
Hi Stephen, our company is reaching it's high season and this development is essential for us. I noticed in your last message that you said it would be launched in a couple weeks...a couple weeks ago ๐ฌ
ย
Any news? Thanks
Adding my vote for the need for lead/lag times along with the ability to schedule backwards from a project due date. These are both critical PM tools needed for efficient scheduling!!
ย
This would be so excellent!ย I have wanted this exact thing, but didn't know how to explain it!
@all, in keeping with my promise to keep you updated here:
The Product Team have been testing some aspects to this functionality and found an area they want to work a little bit more on.
The roadmap plan now points to late October. Obviously, we want this to work flawlessly, so please bear with us - we're almost there!
I'll post again here when I have more information to share.
Thanks for coming together to support this feature!
Oh I am so excited to hear that this may happen this month!ย It's so desperately needed.ย For instance, once a budget is approved by a client I need to send the invoice out within two business days.ย Right now I cannot find any way to do this in Wrike.ย Having that lead/lag ability would really increase Wrike's functionality!ย ย
Let us know because this is why we stopped using Wrike. If you fix this and outlining subtasks on iOS, we will come back. We need to be able to template out these lead/lag times for each task in a project. Sometimes the lag is before a task or mikestone and sometimes it is after a task or milestone. Consider real estate as an example. We perform a home inspection x number of days after mutual acceptance. Or, we need to sign y number of days prior to closing and give out keys z number of days after closing.
Any updated regarding progress @stephen? We thought Wrike included this functionality when we signed on... it really is a deal breaker for us too.ย Hoping its in place in the next couple weeks.ย What is your ETA?ย
@Stephane, we too would really appreciate an update. End of October and we're anxiously waiting for this feature to drastically improve our useย of the Gantt Chart. Thank you.
We design & manufacture custom made light fittings and as such rely on a number of out-sourced trades. All of the various component part have differing lead times so the ability to reflect this in our program is vital.
I have read a lot about this much needed feature on the community pages, can you update us on the launch date please?
Thanks
Our most recent trial is up in three days.
Is this going to be available soon? ๐๐๐ This is a showstopper for us.
We would also like to see dependencies created without requiring a date to be entered. Would it be possible to get these features added as part of a depndencies overhaul? It would also be nice to visualize these dependencies in a network diagram or some other cooler view that isn't focused on dates, but the dependencies themselves.
Here is a link of what I'm missing from MS Project:
https://tensix.com/2015/12/using-the-network-diagram-in-microsoft-project/
In a perfect world, we could display lead and lag on these as well as any other selected fields on the nodes.
ย
Hey Brian - I agree - it's time for an update on this... but I am not surprised.... I've been asking for updates for three weeks on the most upvoted item in this section of Community and have not received a response (https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000153945--Status-Investigating-Allow-Subtasks-to-Update-Start-and-End-Dates-of-Parent-Tasks)
But hey, I guess it's more important to be able to change your Wrike theme to something spooky...
ย
Know what's really spooky??ย Not being able to have a fully functioning project management system!

@all, the Product Team were met with some technical difficulty while testing this feature. For enhancements like this, there's not only work required to ensure it works perfectly by itself, but there's also work to be done to ensure it works flawlessly with otherย affected features in Wrike's back and front end.
The team is working hard andย it's currentlyย estimated that we'll have this feature in December, before the end of the year!ย
I'll keep you all updated as I have more information ๐
Thanks Stephen,
this is an important functionality for us too.
I look forward to the roll-out in December.
Regards,
Alex
Hi Wrike community,ย
I am also looking forwad to using this feature. When would it be launched?ย
ย
Hi Wrike community,ย

ย
Adding support here. Our use case isย a creative team,ย coordinating review meetings after brief / asset delivery. We need a 1-2 day buffer justย to find time in all ofย the stakeholders' schedules.ย
Thanks!
Please add theย lag functionality soon.ย Along with parent tasks updating automatically as subtasks change (which I now understand is a feature as a lab add-on), this is very basic, project management 101 functionality I find lacking as I've started to build out basic projects in Wrike.
ย
How is this feature tracking to be available in December as reported by Stephen on 10/31??
We just started working with Wrike, and I love(d) it until I found out that there's no lead/lag functionality. This seems to be the most basic requirement of any project manager, I can't understand it is so long discussed in this forum. We could work around this by adding "lag tasks", but really it would mean a lot of ontop work, which we wanted to decrease for our team. Please can this functionality added quickly.
Would love an update on this!
Agreed with Lauren, we really need this!
I'd have to say that Lead / Lag functionality is a must have in my case.ย Currently evaluating Wrike along with several other solutions for Project Management and at this point the lack of this functionality puts wrike in the No category.ย
