So that chart does seem to mine the historic data exactly as I want but why only in this chart... I really want to be able to access that data freely e.g. by task or in a list/report view. Clearly ...

I don't consider this fully answered: I _can_ reference task B from task A but this is a really cumbersome way, having to find that task in the list and copy the link. This is only a 1-directional...
So I can search and report based on last modified date but it's simply not available as a column? Is there a reason why, and/or a workaround like adding a custom column using this information somehow?
Hence I had initially thought a customer feature could be a Task, and programmers would be assigned sub-tasks of that task.
