[Status: Backburner ⏳] Code formatting in task descriptions

Maybe Wrike team takes the same time to load a task description to make a feature.
Ok, just creating the same post because the original one the comments was closed.
Could you please enable users to format text in both descriptions and comments as code? Similar to applying the <pre> and <code> HTML tags, any text a user formatted as code would be displayed in a monospace font with long blocks contained within a scrollable element.
Suggested mechanisms for implementation include:
- Dropdown selections in the GUI for code formatting.
- Single tick marks for inline code formatting, e.g., `code`
- Triple tick marks to demark the start/end of a code block, e.g., ```multi-line code block```
Bonus points for:
- Code syntax highlighting.
- Full support of the Markdown syntax.
Hi Ruan, thanks for posting this standalone post. I'll be sure to direct others looking for this here and I've made the Product Team aware of it for their review 👍
Would be covered by this: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000423849-Markdown-formatting-in-Description-field
So frustrated that we can't use code formatting in Task descriptions, only comments. Seems half-baked.
This really impacts the usability of the system for documentation in a negative way.
We need pre-formatted, `single tick` code markdown style as well as:
```
block code
styling
```
In Wrike descriptions. It works well in comments, so one would think it would also exist in the description itself.
What's the status of this? Nice to have this in the comments, but better in the description!
I double that, we write loads of documentation which requires user to run some shell commands, as well as SQL queries. Having it stand out from a regular text as a code format would be very beneficial and easy to read for anyone following the docs.
Hey everyone! This suggestion isn't currently planned by our team. The good news is that we passed your feedback, and once anything changes here, I'll let you know.
Thank you for your feedback!

Hey Lisa! Any chance your code is open source or something? We'd be happy to make a contribution to the formatting code.
I'm sure this wouldn't take more than 1 hour of an engineer's time, and would provide a TON of value to every technology company currently using Wrike.
and/or could I talk to the PM in charge of the description feature? Happy to plead our case + provide feedback.
Hi Alex Pareto, our team is aware of this, but it is currently not on the short-term roadmap. Once they begin work on this however, they will be happy to be in contact with you! I'll keep you posted 😊
FWIW my team was onboard and ready to purchase a subscription until we encountered this hurdle, this is a deal-breaker for us (and I imagine most other tech-focused teams). Inability to arbitrarily reorder folders in the left-hand sidebar was another big disappointment.
Hi Aaron Ross! Really sorry to see you go! Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback here!

Still no progress? How much time it will take more to implement (add code blocks to task description)?
Wrike clearly doesn't care about this. The request, if you track back, is over three years old.

My team is hurting for this feature! We need to be able to format code in the task description. The pain is becoming great enough, we are starting to look at other technology that will meet our needs. Please don't force us to look for another solution other than Wrike.
Hi Luke Flynn,
I'm sorry to hear about your experience here. Thank you for sharing this use case, it's been shared with the Product team. The Product team are still interested in implementing this suggestion, but due to other priorities, there are no plans to add this to the short-term roadmap. I'll be sure to keep you posted on any new information in relation to this idea.
If you need anything else, feel free to reach out to me at any time. I'd be more than happy to help.
Hugh, your response is complete tripe. This issue is years old - this is not some you’re ‘still interested in’ , not something ‘regrettably delayed due to other important priorities’. This issue is years old. No dev team is that incompetent. Please stop pretending that Wrike is interested in customer input.
+1, this feature is a must have
John Toups sorry for the late reply here! The team can't commit to implementing all suggestions on this forum, unfortunately. At the same time, they do read all the feedback we receive here and act upon it where possible. I'm really sorry to hear that you feel otherwise. We do have a process with the Product team, please check out this post for more info.
Thanks for your feedback Tomer Golan, it's been passed to the team now.
For now, this suggestion isn't planned by the team, but we'll continue to pass on your feedback and we'll let you know if there are any updates.

Also for us this feature would very important ...
I'm working on importing a Bugzilla database into Wrike; code fragments appear all the time in bug descriptions and comments. This feature would be so useful to me.
Hi Thomas Hupp and Michael Cornelius, thanks for adding your interest here also.
I've passed this on to the Product team, if you need anything else let me know 👍

Reading the thread, this is unlikely to help, but another +1 for this. It makes absolutely no sense that you can have code blocks in the comments but not the description.
Thank you for letting us know your feedback, Kate HS, and welcome to the Community!

Adding another +1 to this. Our development team is in the process of transitioning from Jira to Wrike and I've been pretty happy with Wrike so far but this is a huge glaring issue. We need to be able to include code snippets in task descriptions. I'd really like the markdown-like syntax suggested but would be equally happy with being able to chose "Preformatted Text" as a formatting option and just paste code into WYSIWYG blocks that ends up monospaced with no highlighting. It's also really disconcerting to see the response from Wrike that it's not something that'll be coming any time soon.
Welcome to the Community, Justin DiPierro! Thank you for sharing your feedback here! Unfortunately, the team don't have this suggestion in their immediate plans currently. At the same time, it's on the team's radar so your feedback will be passed on to them 👍

I also don't understand how Wrike can continue to avoid this essential feature for Product Teams. And why it's possible in comments, but not task descriptions?
You guys should really get this done!
Would be useful to have the code block feature in the description. If am planning out a set of commands in advanced that need to be run the only thing I can do at the moment is bullet point them in the description. Putting them in a code block like we already have in the comments would be useful to have them standout more.
Thank you for supporting code formatting in descriptions, I'm passing your feedback to the team, of course.
