Collapse Dashboard Widget Categories
It'd be great to have a setting to compress the view/grouping of tasks in dashboard widgets by default. Currently, the default is to show the expanded view. If you have a lot of tasks within a category (e.g. the screenshot below, which is likely exaggerated vs. a typical user, but you get my point), however, you can see how one might overlook the next category. It'd be good to ensure that the broader team (beyond those who live and breathe Wrike) realize that there’s more than just the initial list of tasks at the top of a widget.

I whole-heartedly agree. - Every time I come back to a dashboard, or refresh it, it expands every carrot on every widget. I use some dashboards that way, but not all. So it would be fantastic to set a default view preference, either by user, or for each dashboard. (Or even for each widget????)

I second Daniyel's thought, I use the widgets at a glance to see the overall status of segmented workflow. The details within the widget are needed less often so manually closing each carrot to see the data points I need most, takes up needed time.

We love New Dashboards and the ability to have Tables as a widget, but we desperately need the "Collapse All" and "Expand All" buttons that exist on Table View and Reports currently. Please enable this critical functionality to address our end users feedback! New Dashboards is enabling us to consolidate a ton of reports and dashboards but when you have a ton of data in a table (e.g. "Tasks by Assignee" or "Tasks by Project" for an entire User Group) it can almost be un-usable in it's current state until we can Collapse All then open what's needed. Thanks!
Thanks Meredith and we'll do our best to address it soon. Totally makes sense. Where do you need this functionality most? Widget's menu on dashboards? Full-screen view?

Also checking in to see if a "Collapse All" and "Expand All" will be implemented soon? :) Would be really helpful to have this in some of our dashboards that we utilize to determine our projects internal asset codes & categories, etc.

A suggestion from 2018 that still rings true today - upvoted. The fact that these widgets in Table view don't have the items collapsed by default or have a collapse all / expand all button remains a frustration as in some cases, we have a lot of metric options to collapse through manually (i.e. statuses, assignees, item types, etc.).
All, can you please share your specific use cases for collapsing/expanding groups in dashboards? Ideally screenshots. Where do you need it most? Full screen view, widgets themselves, list or table mode?

I cannot share screenshots due to privacy reasons, however I will say that any time a widget on the new dashboards use a table visualization and has a first layer of "breaks by" metric applied (as well as a "then group by" layer). I'm not sure what specific use case I can provide; this is just related to a need for simple organization and clean UI.
When we are trying to visualize and parse a large list of tasks or projects in this table widget, all the grouping is expanded by default and even if you collapse it once, coming back to the dashboard or even refreshing the page will reset it to all layers being expanded. If it would be collapsed by default or if there was a collapse all/expand all button included in the widget, it would make these widgets less hectic, more organized, and easier to digest at first glance (you'll at least see each level - i.e. status - with a number of how many items are contained inside).
I've included one screenshot to reference that I hope can be somewhat helpful! We have a dashboard that is sectioned by our "Lit Code Prefix" custom field & we use this dashboard as a tool to create new codes for our Marketing assets. Since all prefixes are expanded, it can be quite cumbersome to have to scroll through them all to look for the one that we need & work off of - Especially since this dashboard pulls all of our projects (active/completed/archived). It would be great if there was an option to have them all collapsed by default & we can expand the prefixes we need. This is just one example. :)
This feature is much needed! If the rest of Wrike supports a collapse view, why not extend it to dashboard widgets as well? Many of my colleagues have expressed frustration about the time wasted drilling through every level. A "collapse all" option or a feature that remembers the previous state would be incredibly helpful. Thank you!

Yes! I completely agree - our users also want pivot table widgets, when using “break by”, to default to collapse all.
