[Launched! 🚀] Unassigning users as the workflow changes
I think it is a great feature to be able to assign different users when the workflow changes. What would be really great is if you can unassign users at the same time. The problem is, when you have multiple workflows, each user needs to understand the full flow in order to remember who to manually unassign each time.
Hey Rob, for now, perhaps a best practice internally could be on the person to unassign themselves as soon as they change status. I know it's not ideal but it might work for now.
The problem here is that often two or more people may need to work together on the next stage in the flow so automagically removing someone might not be for everyone. It's an interesting idea so thanks for sharing here!🙌
I'd like to help this post get some more attention - the potential for Wrike in terms of Automation (something that the recent Wrike Productivity Tour was very keen on promoting) is HUGE.
Reducing manual tasks and mistakes is something worthwhile to further develop- being able to un-assign and re-assign on workflow changes is something that would be fantastic for this purpose.
I would love to be able to use this as a feature!

agree - if we have to do it manually, it's error prone.
We also wait for this feature.
Workflow can add new assignee to the task as status changed, but each new status change adds new assignee, so if we have workflow with several stages each user has the task in incompleated work even thу stage already passed. It confuses people and makes reports uncertain.
Ditto to all above.
I would like to bump this also.
Its causing a bit of frustration in our team with the inability to automatically unassign people.
Upvote! We've had to add some Wrike Integrate recipes to handle task unassignments on status change that would be much easier to do if we could remove as well as assign users within the Workflow definition.
I need this feature, will be really useful.
Bumping this as well, and looking forward the next update post product team research. Seems like a no-brainer and would be extremely useful in setting up automated workflows.
Hi Jared Maltz, and welcome to the Community!
Thank you for sharing your feedback here. If you need anything else, let me know.
Agree that this should be basic functionality of the workflow. If I can assign someone based on a workflow status, I should be able to unassign them too. Low-hanging fruit that just needs to be picked up.
If this was an option in the new automation feature, e.g. if a status changes to cancelled then unassign from all, it would be great. Right now I can only make it unassign people if I'm giving it at least one new assignee, but there's no option to unassign all.
Thank you for your feedback, Lori Osborne and Jessie Ostrander! And thanks for mentioning Wrike Automation here too. I know it doesn't do what's suggested in this thread, but the team will continue to improve the automation engine, and all feedback related to automating processes is reviewed by the team.

I just wanted to Bump this and see if there is any update?
Hi Daniel Hirth, welcome to the Community 👋
I've checked with the Product team, and for now, they don't have this suggestion on their short-term plans. We continue to pass on new feedback from this thread, and we encourage everyone who hasn't upvoted the suggestion yet to do so as our Product Feedback forum works off a voting system (please check out this article to learn more about this).

Hi Molly Stockman, welcome to the Community and thank you for adding your support here!
It seems like this is now available, yes? https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/18220437046295--From-Wrike-Automation-Change-Assignees-and-Locations-New-Actions-and-Triggers-Job-Roles-supported-and-Duplicate-Rules. Just want to confirm that if you select "Change to" the previous assignees are unassigned and the new ones are notified.
Hi Matt Curtis, yes, your understanding is correct! If you need further assistance, please feel free to share more details about your use case so we can provide you with an accurate reply 🙂
